Franco, I don't have the pad on my bike, I have instead purchased a biker pack which is designed to fit over the sissy bar and it has a thin pad built in the part that slips over the sissy bar. If I have a passenger, I add addional padding before I zip up the backpad.
Just something for you to consider, the backpack is 1/2 the price of the pad and it allow you to carry a lot of stuff.

Here is the bag expanded and fully loaded while riding through Kentucky

I can give you the details if you are interested(make and model of bag)

I have the luggage rack on my sissy bar so the bag does not touch the fender in any way. The bag is only going to slide onto the sissy bar until it bottoms out in the pocket that slides over the bar, I can't tell you for sure if it would touch the fender if you don't have a luggage rack. But what I can tell you for sure, it that I like this bag better than any bag I have seen for everyday rides. I go with a much bigger bag that sits on the rack for long rides or turn it around and use it for a backrest if I don't have a passenger.

Here is my set-up for multi-day long rides without a passenger.
