AZ Emissions

So, just moved down here to AZ and finally getting around to getting all my toys registered here. The problem I'm having is with the emissions on the bike.

Bought the bike up in WA and if it was tuned by the shop any before buying it, it was for around 100-200 feet that it was done. Granted PHX is only 1200-1500... but I did have an intake and pipes put on and had them jet for that (don't remember which are in it now though). Other than that... it's as I first picked it up.

What it's failing for is CO... the "standard" is 5.50. The first test it was 6.80. So I went ahead and leaned it out a bit (I think I turned it 2 1/2 - 3 times) and today it failed again at 8.59.

I know enough to get by... but really much more and I probably need to take it somewhere, which sucks because I don't know of any good places in the area here to take it.

Help is much appreciated.

I'd jet down the low speed. Jet down the main. It's only for a test and I doubt it will hurt being one step down from way rich anyway. Make sense? The slow speed idle screw will be more stable if more lean is needed, and that too is back to spec, then lean when needed.

A few years ago I had the same problem with my '05 Ridgeback. I took it to Chandler Custom Cycles and they tuned it and took it to emissions for me and re-tuned once it passed. I think it cost around $150.00

$150 isn't bad to not have to dick with it.

But I would go back to the stock jets .0295 Intermediate and a .74 Main. Adjust carb and have tested. Once it passes you can re-jet.

Glad I don't have to dick with emissions on bikes in Texas

So, long time no update... they finally passed here in AZ that you don't have to do emissions on your bike a month or so after I first posted this.

:)

Just remembered, the large areas of Phoenix and Tuscan have the emissions

If by a couple you mean two... then emissions wasn't required in the state of AZ. Back in '12 is when I had issues and luckily they changed it then.
