Avon long lasting tires

Just changed tires and went from the Avon Venom to the Avon Cobra. Now before the "whys" start in, here is why, to date the tread splitting and other Avon issues has not happened on the on the 250 size tire. And getting almost 25k miles I am more than happy, and to make it more impressive I put a plug in at 6500 miles. Here are pics of the new / old rear tires together, and the rest show lots of wear left and the plugged hole on both sides.

Changing out the tires had nothing to do with the plug, or the wear, but there was starting to be some sidewall cracking, and I cannot ride with tires in that condition.

I do not hotrod this hound nor have I ever done a burnout with it. I need this bike to get me where I am going with no issues, long distance runs are the norm and this pup has been awesome so far.

What a great story. Thanks for sharing. My first set of tires on my Triumph didn't last long but the second set which were the same brand, etc are lasting forever with over 20,000 miles. I couldn't tell you why. Oh well. :2thumbs:

I still have the original Venom's with 5500 miles on my 06 and they still look brand new.....always keep bike on a jack stand between rides :2thumbs:

I would love to get 25,000 miles out of a tire. So far my best mileage out of a tire was a Avon Venom 7,500 miles. Only getting 5000 miles out of the Metzlers. I have gone through 7 rears tires in 27,000 miles. 2 Avon Venoms...3 Avon Cobras (less than 2000 miles on all 3 combined) ...2 Metzlers and I need another rear now.

Knotso Did you have the same problem with your front tire cracking (mh-90-21) and did you go with the corbra or? I have to agree with knotso no cracks are good!

Yes 05chop, and while the front tire still looked great, it was also replaced. New bearings too and the rears were shot.
