When it comes to directional tires, including on my semi, I ALWAYS confirm the tire is mounted correctly. So I dont buy the story of mounting it backwards.
Here's a question for next week. WHY IS IT ONLY AVON TIRES COME APART?![]()
AVON TYRE QUESTION OF THE WEEK--Why do tires have a directional arrow on the sidewall?
The arrow indicates the direction in which the tire should be mounted on the wheel. When the tire is built the tread is joined with the tread overlapping in so that when the tire is mounted on the front wheel the braking forces acting on the tire keep the tread splice together and when it is on the rear wheel is it overlapped to work with the acceleration forces acting on the rear tire. See photo.

I checked the front pulley after it was all back together by lying on the ground and looking along the bottom section of the belt. Checked the edge of the belt, all looks fine.Any belt rubbing on the front pulley cover after moving it out .125"
How is it holding up? How many miles, how is traction etc...My thread regarding Shinko tires. Im happy with my 300 and front tire.

All tires are made this way. Could be that Avon is not letting the rubber bake long enough in the molds or at a high enough temp / pressure. Cheap processing results in this. Here's a question for next week. WHY IS IT ONLY AVON TIRES COME APART?![]()
I only have about a couple hundred miles on them. My Lady has been resting due the clutch hub issues. How is it holding up? How many miles, how is traction etc...
Cant believe my Avon is ready to be replaced already.
