Build date of 26 week of 09, 2000 miles and has had fast wear and separated. I did buy a new spare 300 last year while at sturgis and was shipped free to my house. New build date of week 6 of 2014. Hoping for the best with the new one. Was hoping for the "it only happens to other people" for the seperation. Oh well. It doesn't change that fact that I LOVE my bulldog! Looking forward to a little seat time this weekend while back at home. I would attach a photo but not smart enough to figure out how to resize the picture on my phone tonight

You should have scrapped that tire a couple of years ago. It is dry rotted from age. There are a lot of threads on here and other forums about the age of tires.

The bike looks great!

I bought the bike last year from a fellow member, tire was in as new shape. Always garage kept, (still is) and perfect. There is still no sidewall cracks or hints of dry rot. Just fast wear and it separated. I will look into the Avon rep dealing with these, I did keep the old tire just in case. I just hope for better luck or our Montana group will be changing brands

This has to be the 10th thread I've read regarding self-destructing Avons. Why do ya'll keep messing with inferior product? Manufacturers that put this sort of shit out do not deserve to be supported, and sooner or later somebody's going down because of their faulty product. Just get the Metzeler's and your worries are over.

I've went through 4 rear tires due to this joint splice issue that Avon had going on. I went to Metz tires and haven't looked back since. I've had no issues with the Metz tires. Avon has since stated they have fixed the issue with the joint splice issues at the factory. I hope you our sakes they did! I would entertain the idea of using the Shinko tires as my next change when it occurs...

WOW! that looks like a cut to me. I still running my Avon rear that's 12 years old. No rot, still hooks good, and is
at about 75% rubber left BUT only 7000 miles. I don't ride easy that's for sure.
BTW GOOD LUCK with the "Avon Rep" you'll need it.

AVON TYRE QUESTION OF THE WEEK--Why do tires have a directional arrow on the sidewall?

The arrow indicates the direction in which the tire should be mounted on the wheel. When the tire is built the tread is joined with the tread overlapping in so that when the tire is mounted on the front wheel the braking forces acting on the tire keep the tread splice together and when it is on the rear wheel is it overlapped to work with the acceleration forces acting on the rear tire. See photo.

If a tire is mounted incorrectly a tread splice can result.
