Sorry to hear about that,,,, looks painful,,,, but you are correct if at all possibl it is best to keep going. I have been on both ends of it too, rode away , and run a few azzholes down as well. Got the carry permit as well, but I try to especially if it is not something really azz n nine to keep going.

I had a guy many years ago when I had a Norton 850 semi chopped hit me with a beer can as he went pass in the other direction. I saw this guy hanging it out the window fixing to throw it at me. It hit the mirror and my hand. I turned around and ran him down and he finally pulled over. When he saw how pizzed off I was he swore up and down he was trying to hit me. He was so sorry. yea!! That was back in the day when I didn't care what I did or what I said to anyone when I got let's say upset.

My grandaugthers have never seen me go as my daughter used to say "Physco" and I would not want them to think badly of me.

Hope you get well very soon,

Ray

Sorry to hear about your incident. Unfortunately we all get caught up and do things that we would not have done if we were thinking with a cooler head. Fuck him though! That shit pisses me off too, the way these jerkoffs drive around like they are the only ones on the road. In a weird way you probably got off easier this way then if you kicked his ass and ended up sitting in a jail cell, or even getting sued by this jerkoff. Have a speedy recovery.

Thanks guys. No he never came out of his SUV. Found out later he was a COP! $8500.00 dollars my cost for repairs to bike. Hospital bill$$$$$$$$$..
Yeah man that is terrible. I tote a gun, I think I am a bad ass, but I have learned that you cannot fight all of the ignorance and stupidity this society has to offer. Trying to do so will leave you in a constant state of frustration or behind bars. Let it go, heal yourself, fix your bike, and learn. Good luck Steve.

Steve! Wow, that is something we should all think about! Sometimes better to just 'ride away'.

I WILL remember this story!

My buddy Mike and I almost got in the same situation in Elko, NV at a rally there! I think his Marine tat, and my muscles (I was more buffed out back then) won us the 'Bluff'!

Anyway hope you heal fast and you're are still here to 'tell the story'!

Get well.. I don't know why but I can stay pretty calm in a semi truck. They do something stupid I just laugh at the mini van and feel sorry for the kids that have idiots for parents. But get me on a bike or a car and look out. I recently just paid a ticket that i got on vacation as I passed through Iowa. Had a little road rage incident. The guy I had problems with cut me off twice. So I blew by him on the shoulder. Fuck him I think I said as I blew by. Well 10 miles later I noticed that same Black Chrysler 300 I had problems with had red lights in the visor. Held me on the side of the road 30 min for a trooper to write me a ticket. Still pisses me off. Yes the guy was a Asshole but I shouldn't have lost my cool either. Thought about going to court just to see if they'd both show. Decided to pay it. The time off to go to court would cost me more in the long run.

By the way in my defense it was a very smooth, wide, black top shoulder that was in better shape than the highway was.

Hey Steve,
something similar happened to me about year ago, a young lady looked me right in the eye and then made a left turn causing me to lock up the brakes and almost lay the bike down. Well I followed her into the carwash lobby and yelled at her for being stupid, I have seen these things turn into way bigger problems for people who are normally calm and reasonable and I know better, and like 1BADK9 I also carry a gun and i could have been in serious trouble if the young lady called 911. Shame on a fellow cop for slamming on his brakes and lying about it afterwards. Hope you heal quickly

Good thing is your going to heal up and bike is fixed. Much better than being behind bars for assault.

Road rage is a weird thing to experience and usually happens to me when I'm in a stressful period, do we sometimes bring on ourselves? Maybe - maybe not and with that in mind yes it's best to walk away from the morons which is hard to do sometimes.

The part that gets me angry is he is a cop.

Good to hear you will be ok and that cop is a dangerous cop. Karma will kick his ass big time some day.

Here in WA state, a driver that slammed on his brakes causing a rider to go down (rider survived), is now in prison for attempted murder.

Very good story and great lesson to take to heart.

We have all had days when we wanted to go Rambo on someone for their stupidity or worse just plain ole agressiveness.

Best is to to walk away, regain your composure and count the blessing.

Anytime you chase one down, there is a good chance it will not come out as one had planned in their fit of anger. Could get up the person/s and they could use the vehicle to do much worse damage to you then you to them, could find a pissed off person that comes at you fully loaded and firing, you could beat the hell out of them and find your life even worse off as you sit in jail, away from family and loved ones, costing you who knows how much stress and money, or as many of us carry (and that brings a great responsibility) kill someone over a mistake caused by possible foolishness, or accident and then have to deal with the outcome as well as the stress of killing another human no matter how right or wrong it may have been.

Glad you are okay and you will heal, get the bike fixed and get out there and ride again and enjoy the freedom of the open roads!

Thanks for the post and reminds!
