Anything I should be looking for in this 2006 Chopper?

Is 2006 a good year to buy?

Also, per Sven's writup in "what to look for", how can I tell If the engine is starting from cold? Even if I go first thing in the AM, I'll have to make the appointment with the owner and he'd have the chance to fire it up while I'm en route?
Do I just feel the exhaust for temperature and if it feels cold that's sufficient?

if I use a pair of gloves and just grab it even though it's secure I will hear a Sizzle, correct?
Should I shake it or squeeze it hard?
If it does sizzle, how long do I need to wait for it to completely cool down before doing a true startup test?

05/06 came with the tp heads, if they haven't been switched out to s&s don't buy it
I wouldn't be able to tell with my limited knowledge of these bikes, I'll assume that if he can't provide documentation of said upgrade then it wasn't done

Not sure how you noticed that but that's great, thank you, any ballpark idea of what the cost would be if I were to switch to S&S covers and He adjusted the price to reflect as such?

I' not sure that I wouldn' buy a buy just because it has TP rocker boxes though, if you could get a good enough deal on the bike. I bought an 06 RidgeBack with 9k miles for 8k. No problems with the tp boxes yet. But if you can find an 07 or so in the same price range than if for sure get it.

Listen for excessive valve noise at the rocker boxes - TP boxes if not lined up(tightened down) with rocker arms centered on valve stems will cause wear as not running true. I hav an '05 with TP Boxes & after purchasing took bike to my mechanic to change out, but he wouldn't as he showed me alignment - my mechanic is a back woods, ex-NASA machinist, that held a Bonneville Salt Flats record for a lil' while so I tend to trust him(also he conferred with S&S). Good Luck!

Tp covers only have 4 screws holding cover down down s&s have 6 screws

So starting point is $900 and then add labor (or personal time) he would have to come down over $1k on price - that may be a lot but he says he needs to sell asap, I reached out.

You have to change the covers the rocker arms and tubes to s&s

So on an 07 on up this is already done.
On a 04 on down it's just Harley parts.
So if it's an 05 or an 06 I have to make sure the covers, arms, and tubes have been upgraded from TP to S&S, correct?

Correct on years, like I said before if it's been done that's a plus but I wouldn't let that determine whether you buy it or not if you can get a good deal on it. Looks like it has some aftermarket stuff like oil cooler etc, and if he has the receipts for all the work he just did than that' a plus. Offer him 8 or 8500 cash and see what happens

Has low mileage too, so I wouldn' worry too much about the tp boxes right now. I have over twice the mileage and they are fine

Not correct - 2004 was a "step child yr" BDM started using the new electronics, controls (hand and foot), handlebars and front-end but retained the LSD and primaries that were HD ish.

In the description it says bike completely gone through including new pistons , chances are the valves and valve terrain would have been gone through as well and any problems would have been addressed. Be sure to ask lots of questions.

I've been looking and comparing, great tip, thanks.
These are total performance rocker boxes.
I bought an 06 ridgeback in 09 and I havent changed rocker boxes to the S&S type as of yet.
