Anyone Pulled their own tranny?

Yeah I have done that... 
I don't recall what BDM says or have my manual with me but once you get tranny back in, you put the inner primary back on. Sense you didn't move your motor the inner primary will put the tranny back to where it was. Then simply put on the final drive belt and realign the rear wheel. I have found the simple way of measuring from the swing arm pivit to the rear axle (center to center) works best
The big key to help you, is that you haven't moved your motor.

Hi Gasman,
The reason I'm asking is a friend of mine lost his trans in his AIH.
He took it out himself and I noticed that his rear pulley has the bad wear as described in our BDM service manual.
I just bought all the BDM alignment tools so we can check to see what is out of alignment.
What do you think would cause the rear pulley wear? His rear tire is wearing fine so I thought it could be the trans out of alignment.

Three weeks before Bike Week my input bearing went, then I found that it had a carrier explosion before I bought the bike!!! Wrenched right up to the night before I was to head up!!!! Made it and had a great time but a lot of pissed days and night. And a lot of Beam!!! Quit my job twice, called in sick for the first time in ten years but got ERR done!!!

LOL, not that expensive but I like tools.
In the first page of the alignment section there are four tools listed and the alignment section explains the alignment procedure using each tool.
I'll look for the pulley thread

Had a bad belt squeal when I got my dog home. Loosened up all the motor and tyranny bolts, gave the damn thing a good Detroit yank in the direction it needed to go! Snugged a couple bolts down then tightened the belt square. Checked the belt centered on the front pulley torque all down and went out for a run, no more squeal!! :2thumbs:

My stealer adjusted the wheel off center to help stop the squeal. :angry: :bang: When I adjusted the belt/wheel correctly the belt started binding!!!
Also the belt was riding all the way to the outside of the front pulley. That’s when I figured the engine/trans was out of whack!!

That's the main reason I wanted the tools. My dealer screwed my scoot up at the 5k service and I don't plan on going back. These $10/hr bike mechanics
working on these bikes is BS
Yup, hard to find true craftsman that live for these bikes like we do!! I would love to have a shop and do it for a living!!! In ten years when my house is paid off or when the market comes back and I sell and get out of here I plan on doing somthing on my own.:2thumbs:
