anyone no the best clear coat to use to protect polished alloy

SKOGDOG

One of the old ones.
I didn't want to text drunk last night ,so I'll try it with a hang over this morning.
Like you, I was looking for a product that would seal the aluminum and keep it from oxidizing. I ran across this product and gave it a shot.

I have not used it on paint, so I can't tell you what that looks like. All I used it on was my aluminum and brass parts. Basically I tried it and forgot I used it.
After I polished out the parts, I used lacquer thinner to clean the polish off an applied this stuff. It has been two years since I used it, and I'm in the middle of polishing everything again, because I just repainted. The only way I remembered I had used it, was when I started buffing and it was making a mess. Lacquer thinner, cleaned it off really easy, and I could polish then.
This picture won't do it much justice, because my bike was really dirty when I torn down. Top was just polished, and the bottom is two years of abuse.

All in all, I'll give this product a :old2: and I'm using it again.
I have only used it on my paint, after one of the other forum members repcommended it in a post titled 'How do they do it?' Referencing glass-like paint finishes. (maybe DentDude).
I love the stuff and will use it on aluminum too now....

So you polish the parts then apply this liquid glass over it. Okay sounds good.

Now what happens when you go back to polish it in say a month? I imagine normal billet polish won't work?

Just trying to understand how this stuff helps

It really doesn't need polished, just cleaned. I just use a cleaning wax.
