Anyone keep burning their leg...

It's been a month now since buying my 05 Chopper and even at 5'9" (I'm short) my right leg (always wear jeans) somehow keeps touching the pipes! :bang:
The bike has Hookers widetails (their on the long side) and even extending my right leg out it still sometimes touches the pipe. As you know "it's HOT".

Remember reading here somewhere that someone even had his pants catch fire or began to smolder from touching the pipe!

I'm going to look into wrapping something around my leg to "help" from burning myself.
I saw a pic of someone here who wrapped a bandana around this right leg to help from burning his leg also.

Any ideas from those having the same problem ?

I can hear it now, wear a firemans pants for when I ride.

look into different pipes that stay clear of your leg.. just a thought.. lots of pipes on the mrket...

Don't put your right foot down?

Ride side-saddle and just stand up at every stoplight:roll:

Or take Eric's suggestion and get some new pipes!:2thumbs:

I saw a guy at the roar on the shore rally that had some type of wrap on his pant leg. like 3 small bunge cords. looked like they were bought.

Good one Steve! I am with Eric...you don't want to have to wrap your leg every time you ride. My K9 came with Mean Mothers and I notice the heat shields work way better than the Kerkers on my Boxer. Although neither one of them ever cam close to burning my pants.

Being a shorter guy myself (5'8"), I had the same problem with my Cory Ness Jackpot with the 240 ass end. Now my Pit has the 280 and I anticipate the same problem. At 25.5" to the seat, only .5" shorter than my Victory, I will need to mind those pipes...especially with rain gear. If I get the drop seat for Scarlet, that will drop the seat height by 2" and that would help a lot. I will have to ride my bike first to see how much of an issue it is before I spend the coin on the drop seat..plus I like the look of the spring seat.

My wife has the same issue when riding my VRod. She bought some "chaplets" from leatherup.com I think. I'm 5'8 but all leg 34 inch inseam. I never have an issue on my K9 or VRod, just lucky or just screwed up body proportions. Anyway there are leg wraps online.

EZ -not to get personal but it all has to do with the size of your inseam

I am 5'10" but have stumpy legs and have to consciously avoid the pipes. I believe you have the same setup as me the exhaust that is.
Ride in shorts for a while and that will get your attention  After 6,7,8,9 burns you'll learn how to negotiate the pipes:D

 wouldn't dare ride in just shorts...too many burns as a kid on my dirt bikes.

No, NEVER....... I woke up this morning and found this. Fu**ing gremlins burning me while I sleep!!

Actually, I do it about once a month. I dont' think it has anything to do with height, cause I'm 6' 1". It always happens to me when I'm backing it up into the garage, or a parking space. I always wear long pants and boots, but that doesn't help. You would think I'd learn after a while, but I'm a DUMB ASS.......

I noticed on my bike where the previous owner had burned a permanent place on the pipes with, well it looks like blue jean material. I took this as a "Sign" or warning not to wear shorts like I used to do on my other bike. My advice try your best not to touch them at all. They get hot like really fast too.

Must not be running a "Guardian Bell" on you bed
I'm thinking, I should swipe the one from my brothers Harley and put it on my bed. Always wondered what the bell rattle was when I rode anywhere with him. I was helping him change his oil last week and saw the bell hanging from his frame..... WTF!! Must be a west coast thing, I had never heard of that one before.
