I looked for a 280/40-20 but seems theres not alot of choice in the 280 range. But i found a cure for that..... A new K-9 fixes the problem and went looking today and found :whoop: 2 :whoop: I'm looking at. One is orange w/ghost flames and skulls and the other is black w/ chameleon flames.
that's one way to solve a problem. :2thumbs:

Tire Wear

I`ve ridden for approximately 50 years. I have seen many things come down the pike in that time. Companies, fads, and trends will come and go. There is one thing nobody can avoid. Tires are the only thing between you, your bike, and a case of road-rash. That thing my brothers-behind-bars is your TIRES. I see many riders chime in about mileage they do or don`t get from their tires. The simple fact is motorcycle tires should be replaced annually. There are many reasons why one needs to replace the tires on your bike each year. Firstly there is a lot of degradation of the rubber and silicone/sulphur compounds in tires by UV rays. Furthermore pollutants and simply rolling stresses will degrade the carbon chain`s elasticity over time which causes "age cracks" of sidewalls and the cracks deep in the tread channels . Many riders complain of the expense of replacing the rubber each year, but what price does one put on your hide? I complained once long ago about the price of replacing the spark plugs on a two stroke hot rod Kawasaki. That old biker said I should shut my trap and pay up or sell the bike to someone who would enjoy the bike and could afford the up keep without complaining about the cost.

It's just a de-lamination. I've seen it in race tires both car and motorcycle. The tire was probably bad when you bought it. You could try calling the manufacturer but chances are you got screwed. Nobody's fault just bad luck.

I don't think I ever said I couldn't afford a new tire or really complained about it. I asked if anyone had ever seen a tire do this before and thought this type of wear was a little premature for the amount of miles on it. None of my previous tires that were on the bike did this. I agree that tires should not be pushed beyond limits to stay safe. I do appreciate your input and reply but I don't appreciate you assuming I don't understand the concept you gotta pay to play.

I don't see Avon helping out at all. GKC sent a letter to Avon in regards to the cracking at the bottom of the rain grooves on our front tires-(Cobra's) and they pretty much said there were such a small amount of failures that it's not an issue.

I wish you good luck however if I were u start shopping for Metzler's and be done with it. Avon only cares about their Sport bike market.
