Anyone had luck using a "For Sale" sign on the side of the road?

In an effort to fund a purchase of a BDM soft tail, I need to thin the herd.
Haven't had many solid responses from Craigslist and unwilling to pay 10% of sale to eBay (at that rate I may as well put them on consignment and free up the carport space).
The bikes are in perfect working condition and have been cleaned up to be presentable.
I figure I could park it in front of the Xs since she's on a main road and get a lot of eyeballs that way. "For sale, price, phone #"
Just curious, before I do, if anyone's had any better luck selling that way...

Chain or cable them to something or make sure they can be watched. Other than that, why not? Don’t cost anything! I’ve set a few things along the road with absolutely free on them and had people stop by to ask if indeed they were free!

I've had many offers at shows, group rides, gas stations, etc.. point being, the more exposure the better the chances. I don't really "try" to sell any of my bikes, if an offer comes along that I like off it goes...

Do you have a Facebook page? I feel like the market pages there have taken away from Craig’s List. For some reason I feel safer with them too.

Hit or miss hard to say. I had to sell a bike to make room for the big dog could not get any response at all even with a great price. Last month I put a sign in the window of my covertion van and sold it in two days. Never thought it would sell.

Lots of people stick stuff in their yard and put a "4 sale" sign on it. You should make up a nice sign and put it "aside" the object for sale and for gods sake clean it up before trying to sell. Tips of the day;)

Are you talking about Facebook classifieds? I've already posted them there, maybe I need to be more patient.

I’m sure we are talking about the same thing but like there is the Marketplace shown here. People can search specifically what they want and the area. Also local for sale groups, bike stuff for sale groups, the Big Dog Facebook groups.

Good luck! Unfortunately, it does take time and people may be waiting for Spring.

Not sure where you are thinking of parking it, but most of northern Virginia tends to frown on vehicles being parked on public streets with for sale signs on them. Parking enforcement is becoming a hot topic in Fairfax and Loudoun counties.

Yes we are :)
What I was calling classifieds is indeed the marketplace, thanks.
The only issue I foresee is there's some really nice choppers on there and I end buying the softtail I need before my bikes sell ... and the collection expands
