Have an 06 Pit Bull with a high compression 117 (carb). It has a gen1 rip kit (wiring harness/ehc).
Ive repaired a couple problems already, I had the tank off for the last fix, which was the compression relief valve on the #1 cylinder. After the repair I fired it up just to make sure the solenoid worked properly. It ran for a couple seconds then I shut it down. Did the rest of the re-assembly, fuel tank etc, and once that was done I tried to fire it up and it wont run. Cranks but no start. After some investigation I discovered that there was no spark. And also discovered that the ignition module showed no sign of life (no led with key on and run switch pressed. And no led while cranking.
I have searched everywhere for an actual "schematic" of the new harness and cant find one. While i'm going through the process of circuit tracing to locate the problem, nit only do I not find it, I also have had to use the schematic for the original ehc module and harness which, as i'm sure you're aware, leaves me making assumptions for parts of the circuit in the new harness. Primarily, I cannot determine the actual power supply for the ign module. What I came up with after doing my own tracing is that the power supply for the ign module is coming from the speedo circuit board. I don't believe that is correct but I caant seem to find anything other than the installation instructions the came with the rip kit.
Is there a "schematic" of the replacement harness included in the kit? If not could somebody please tell me where the ign module "actually" gets it's power from? Please... Cause I dont want to throw any parts at this bad boy in the hopes that it fixes it. I'd much rather figure out what is going on now and why its happening. Seems kinda weird that it will run one minute and then not the next. The only process that was done between when it ran and then didn't is reinstalling the tank, fuel lines and side covers and seat.... I will admit, with no problem at all, that im stuck.
Any info anybody may have to get me beyond this issue will be greatly appreciated..... Ride long, Be safe.....Pat
