Looking at a filter for my breather hose that runs from rear head. Put on the D&M spike and hose doesnt connect. I found this filter
http://m.ebay.com/itm/CHROME-CRANKC...EATHER-HOSE-/321939626436?nav=WATCHING_ACTIVE
and comes with a 1/4 mount so I was looking for a place and found a stud with a nut on it between the two cylinder bases and pushrod covers. It looks like its a good spot as long as mounting something behind the nut isnt going to mess with anything important. Ill take a picture in a few min incase my description is poor. Thanks for info

Yes I know its for the breather tube. The rear breather tube runs to the stock air cleaner. The D&M doesnt have a spot for it so the breather hose is open and drips a little oil. Some people run it lower and some put filters on it. Id like a filter. The filter I found comes with a mount so it doesnt blow around. The question was, what is that nut for and would it compromise anything if I mount the filter behind it

if you are talking about the nut at the bottom between the pushrods, that is for locating top dead center. it's there as an access point. BUT, i have been wrong before.

That looks like one of the bolts that holds the cases together. If you put the filter there it will be an oily mess.

I wouldnt think it would be a case bolt because it is a stud woth a small washer and nut. Ive never seen a case bolt go all the way through and have a small nut on end but im also use to dirt bike motors not these.

On this end it is just a washer and nut, if I take those off there is a stud so Im not sure its a visual port for tdc marks but ??

Yeah your right, I just checked the other side of motor. Guess thats a bad idea unless I get a longer bolt so I can put the filter and second nut after that nut.hmm

That 1/4 inch Nut and Washer is the center stud that hold the case together and is torqued to 120 inch pounds Not much but if you fuck with it you may end up with an oil leak or you may distort the cylinder and end up with odd wear. Don't mess with it. The Timing hold is on the opposite side of the Engine and its an Allen plug.

If you want to put a filter at the end of the hose coming from the rear head you can it will not do anything and will drip oil. What I have done is installed a puke can that I attach to the Transmission cover. The oil stays in the puke can until when ever you feel it needs to be drained.

This is the puke can and where it is attached to the transmission

This is what the Puke can looks like from the side and notice that is has a filter on it too.

I hope that helps, you can get puke cans at JPCYCLES with a filter on top of it

Does the puke can come with the bracket? Anything else needed? Thanks for the info

Sorry if im not clear enough guys. Its the breather from rear head that normally connects to stock air cleaner bracket. And mine does drip oil, not much at all but it does some. A filter or puke can like carlos mentioned would look better and be cleaner I think.
