I have a 05 chopper with the stock top mount with the key switch in it and the coil mounted behind it. Does anyone make an aftermarket one that will bolt on to replace it or is there ones out there that you have to do some fab work to make fit. Just looking for something different looking even if I have to change the coil.

Little Boo,
I freakin love that mount you have and I know that you are an amphibious war machine but how does it work in the rain?

You think you'll have any problems with it.

that does look bad ass little boo. Do you know if your 07 mounts the same as my 05 chopper? How does the top of the coil mount attach to the top of the frame? Do you have any close up pics of that area?

It doesn't rain in Texas   No, I have only gotten caught in the rain once and it worked fine. I use clear RTV Silicone on the coil and ignition connections (after they have been tightened) to keep them from getting wet, so far so good. BTW when you have to take them off the silicone just peels right off.

Go to the link I provide above and use the pull down menu on the right to view the different setups, top motor mounts or top motor mount bolts.

Top Motor Mount*::*Top Motor Mounts*::*Motorway Engineering Co.

This link will show you what the top mount looks like and it is easy to bolt on. They have a complete setup for about 260 or 280. Just call and tell them what you want, chrome, power coated. Also tell them you want the one without the starter button. The ignition switch is a 3 way sporster style switch. The coils are 3 ohm black, but you can paint them. If you need part numbers let me know and I will provide them for you. Hope that helps, BTW you can also fine this stuff on e-bay or JPCycles and Dennis Kirk, Bikers choice, Tejasthumper and others, they all come from Vulcan so I would just go to them.

Carlos,
wasn't there a problem with the spacer needing machining or did they fix that?

It was not the spacer, it was the actual mount that would hit the tank. To the best of my knowledge they fixed that. I think they machined about a 1/4 inch or so of the top so the top of the mount would not hit the tank. Mine fit fine from the get go. I think that those riders that were having problems with the mount hitting the tank could have raised the rear of the tank the necessary 1/4 or so to fix that. I had never taken of my gas tank off before, but now that I have I can see where that area can be adjusted insofar as it is a minor adjustment.
