Any advice on flush mounted gas cap?

I like the clean look of a flush mounted gas cap, and was wondering if anyone had any advice, lessons learned, or which one is best? I am currently leaning towards the very low profile pop up which is not truly flush mount but not set on it. Thanks for helping. :up::up::up:

I have a pop up on the wifes bike it has a tendency to leak from time to time. On my bike i used a Kuryakyn flush mount that screws in and it works good here is a picture there 49 bucks from J&P Catalog

I used some cheaper pop up's on my bike after one of my caps got "stuck" in the paint saver.

I filled up the bike, went for a short ride. Parked it at my parents house for about an hour. Came outside and this is what I found:

The gas leaked out on the left side (I have the split tanks) and got behind the clear and destroyed my paint. Maybe the more expensive pop up caps are better, but do not go cheap!!!

Pop ups are no good if you actually do some distance riding. Over time they get stiff and won't "pop up". Not a good thing when you are on the road and running out of gas. Stick with something you can get your hands around.

Here is mine, the tank is a custom. I really like the pop up cap, and the way looks. I have no issues with it, works great.

The Kury's on the 2nd post are the ones that I have used and they are ok not great. The one's Jim had did exactly what Jim's picture shows. Leaking all over, they suck. Use regular gas cap and you won't have a problem or get one from Jake.

As you know I also make the same replacement gas caps in my line up for the Big Bear pop up gas caps. They have a lot of issues with the rotating mechanism in the pop up portion that after a year or so, they start to stick and will not pop up. The gas raises hell with the moving parts seens how the cap is vented up though them.

I'd say stay away from the pop up style.

If you decide to get one, make sure you vent the fuel tank...
