Ok I live out in Phoenix and been hanging with a 1% club for almost a year. I wa told that I need a new bike to prospect. Not that I have been entertaining the thought to heavily but I think it's weird they discriminate against my chopper... Any thoughts?

Damn, that sounds kinda unusual to me. Never heard of a requirement such as that...

It used to be and I believe still is that once you patch your bike becomes the club's property. If for any reason you leave the club, you give them your patch, bike and tattoos. It only stands to reason that the only reason anyone would care what you ride is they think they may be riding it one day, unless you're riding a Sears Allstate Compact scooter.

Would not know for a fact and best to be answered by the club you are looking to join. That said, know more than a few 1% from some of the Big 4 and some of their supporters and many of them have older bike than yours.

I have never heard of requirement for a newer bike, just normaly American Built V-Twin, some of the older clubs allowed others at one time coming off WWII and were allowed Brits such as the Triumph, BSA, etc.

I would think very hard though, if you are considering joining a 1%, if the MC club of interest is really for you, where one of the requirement would be a NEWER BIKE!!! One think to stick to the roots and require American Made V-Twins, but to say it has to be brand new or only a few years old!! Very surprised to hear of such from a 1%!

It is indeed a life, but still a club. All go by MC for motorcycle club, never called Gang either except by other outside and usual one associated with LEO.

That said still surprised that what everone 1% is talking about would not accept a BD, but if that is their ruels and he still wants to prospect with them, let him make his choice.

All due respect to all 1% and is not something that one should take lightly if they are interested in joining for sure. Me I prefer to ride what I want, put my family first, and not have to share things I bought with my own hard labors unless so is out of the nature of my own heart. That and my lifestyle would not allow nor my time.

my mechanic was a 1%er and a past President of one of the Big 4. He is now a minister and turned in his colors. But, I looked at doing the prospect thing a couple of yrs ago under him while he was still President . He sat me down and had a good 1 on 1 talk. #1 The brotherhood comes before anything, I mean ANYTHING!!!! You better have very laxed work hours, almost all the time your not working, sleeping, shitting, your on there clock, doing what they say, they want, and there are no excuses Legal or illegal you do it. Or there will be ramifications! I opted NOT TO DO IT!!!!! I'm not saying it's good or bad, I am saying I am thankful a friend sat me down and was a steight shooter on this matter. It's a life style that some people would defend to there death, and if that life style makes them happy. Then, I'm happy for them, it just was not for me. Some of these guy's have no outside family some do. Some come from abused homes some don't. Some have never experianced trust except with this brotherhood. And one thing for sure, is these guys have each others back 24/7/365. And that I DO RESPECT!!

I always heard the requirements were an American made V twin also. I am surprised to hear that you have to have a HD. I can see several reasons why uniformity and having the same band bikes would be a benefit though. When it comes to maintenance, repairs, etc. it could really make a big difference.

From what I have seen on TV, joining into a 1% would be the very last thing I can think of that I would get into of my own choosing. Think long and hard before you get into something that is not that easy to get out of.

Kind of like the little boy who thought it was a good idea to stick his pecker in a coke bottle. Lot easier going in than getting out of it!!!:lol:
