Ok as per my other questions...but a new one.. my headlight functions intermittently low beam mostly but now high beam as well. I checked the lights on my EHC and found when my low beam didn't work a yellow light appeared. My question is this.. Is the EHC telling me I have a fault somewhere in my headlight wiring or is it telling me something else..

Add the year and model of your bike to your stats information.

It could be a melted headlight connector in the bucket. Do a search and you'll find replacement information and repair proceedure.

Well for what its worth....when my EHC went bad my headlight would go from low to high on its own. Checked the wires in the bucket and I even bought a new bulb. I eventually lost my low beam all together. Then I had other related issues on how the bike would run. I ended up with a wire plus. All is good now. Hopefully your problem is something different. Check all the basics first. Its not always the EHC. Good luck.

don't forget to check under the tank for the little JST connector used for ease of assembly at the factory, it is undersized and has the potential to fail. (especially if it gets wet)

Is it the EHC? Its all guessing until you go through your entire system and check EVERYTHING.
People are quick to blame the EHC but WP has its problems too. Was just on the phone last night with a forum member. His headlight and tail lights would come on when he first started the bike and after about a minute they would start to fade and go out completely. Everything else worked fine. He spent some time troubleshooting. Pulled his headlight bulb out of the circuit started the motor again and after about a minute the rear brake light switch started smoking. So he shut her down immediately pulled the switch and wiring and inspected it thoroughly and could find nothing wrong with it. So he put everything back together and started the motor again and the same thing. So he started going through everything. He started at the extremities, lucky for him, first and found a wiring that was grounding intermittently on his license plate light. Fixed it and tried running the bike again and Boom that was the problem. Now it runs great and no more headlight problems.
Whats my point? Before you start ditching things and spending money spend some time troubleshooting the electrical system.
Im not saying these guys that put in the WP did or didn't solve their problem with the WP. Im just Id be willing to bet my left nut that alot of them solved some other issue while they were tearing everything out and putting in the WP.
The answer to your specific question is in the image attached.

You said in another thread that your tach also does not work sometimes, and the headlight problem is intermittent low and/or high not working. The lights on the 2004 EHC don't mean anything, you can't use them to troubleshoot individual functions.

Thanks for all your help guys...just one more question before I remove my gas tank, is there any drama in checking the head light switch itself ie taking it apart to check those wires.. I may have missed it on the How too forum. cheers

Looking forward to retirement
My High beam crapped out while riding back on I-20 after the BOO Festival in Jefferson TX. I thought oh SHIT here goes the EHC!!!!!! Ended up being a bad wire in the bucket. What blew my mind is, NO one has ever done anything to the headlight bucket or wiring since I bought the bike in 2004. The wire that melted was all wadded up and was probably 15 foot long!

If you are intermittently losing your low beam it's not the switch. The low beam runs continuously via power from the EHC, and is only switched off when the EHC switches on the high beam. The switch simply tells the EHC to switch from low to high. If the bulb is out on the low or the high, the EHC will automatically switch to the working bulb.

No drama. Wrap some ez off masking tape (blue or green) around the controls before you start. That keeps them from hitting the floor when you remove the bolts. Take the front cover off and check your board, and connections. It would also be a good time to clean and spray the PC board with some marine conformal coating. Waterproofing them will save you some trouble later. If you have to get into the bucket, well thats a drama filled event. Ok, it was for me. Ended up ordering a new bucket..:bang: damn screw in ring. Check the connections there and also check ur bulb. Keep huntin, you'll find your gremlin eventually.
