DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM)- A Grand Prairie woman is looking for answers after her husband was killed in a hit-and-run accident riding his motorcycle to work Wednesday morning.

Bennie Dee Barr, 62, was struck by a vehicle in the 17800 block of Preston Road near Frankford. Police do not know what the suspect was driving.

His wife, Lynn Barr wants justice for her husband.

“What kind of animal would hit a person, knock them 39-feet and then run over them? And get out of the car and leave and run,” Barr asked.

Dallas Police said the suspect will initially be charged with Failure to Stop and Render Aid, but that could possibly be bumped up to a type of vehicular manslaughter charge pending an investigation.

Barr was alive at the scene and was rushed to Parkland Hospital, where his wife and her sister and friends rushed to his side.

“He was alive, but he was unconscious…I didn’t get to talk to him,” Barr said. “He had bleeding on the brain, he had a broken neck, a broken back, broken ribs, a broken arm, and a broken hip and sternum.”

Bennie Dee Barr died from a result of his injuries at Parkland Wednesday.

Mrs. Barr describes her husband as a big, huge 6-foot tall man who had a gruff exterior but a huge heart. He rode his beloved Big dog on two different Santa’s Helpers rides annually during the holidays.

“It’s just not right, it was not his time, this was not right; and this animal (the motorist)—if he’s capable of doing this he’s capable of doing anything. He can do it to somebody else,” Barr said.

Police have not announced if they’ve found the driver who struck Barr

Rip.
I understand accidents happen all the time. Not stoping is just sub human.
I hope they find the driver and make an example of him or her.
It is sad that you have to prosecute people to make others think about doing the right thing.
Karma better get this one.
