Another bad m/c shop

Well let me start by saying I have a OLD dog, a 2001 husky that I have owned for just over a year. Earlier this year I wanted to have some service done to bike since I did not know previous owner and how his maintenance mind worked. I took my bike to a local shop wich came highly recommended by a fellow BD owner to have a 7500 mile service done at 6k miles just to be safe. While I had it in the shop had them do a set of pipes and move tailights from license plates to fender struts, got a call a week later and was told bike was ready to be picked up. Upon picking bike up I inspected (not knowing owner and quality of work) and found when the tailights were mounted the were clearence issues with t/l shaft and tire, told owner and he said he would correct the problem and call me in a couple of days when fixed. Recieved call to pick up and was told that everything was good and no more clearance issues ( he had trailed someone on bike and no problems) so I took bike home. Well that was in Feb and I had not taken anyone on a ride since then until this past Sunday when out of the blue wifes says she wants to go for a ride, ( wife has disabilities and its unconfortable for her to ride) so off we went. About 10 min into ride we stopped at a light and I smelled rubber burning, but being in heavy traffic thought it was maybe another vehicle. We proceeded another 20 miles until we stopped for a drink and smelled rubber again. I inspected the bike and found a grove about 3/4 inch wide by 1/2 in deep in tire where tailight had rubbed into tire. I removed t/l and returned home (very carfully). After closer inspection of t/l found that it had not been cut down in size like owner of shop stated that he had done. So after a phone call Monday all I got out of him was "wish you the best with that" after I had asked him to repair bike.

Well I ordered a tire from another shop and called all my biker buddies around the area that I knew that took their bike to him, told them of the issue and populus stated they were done with him as well after this. Well unknown to me my buddies had called the shop owner and stated they were done with him ( 1 had bike there to be worked on and picked up before work was done) because of service rendered to me. About an hour later I recieved a phone call from shop owner stating that he had lied about fixing t/l and would do all repairs at no charge (duh). So I am expecting a new tire from him later this week but will not let him touch my bike again.

I guess what i'm trying to say is that since getting my Dog I have made some really good friends in here and where I live and its nice to have unity in numbers to stand up for our rights as riders, (big breath) and sticking together. Ya this owner has lost some business over this simple issue, but I bet he will think twice before lying to another customer again and putting their life in danger to save time and a buck! So thanks for all that everyone here does and sharing info in the how to section and just being a Great group of freinds. Ride safe and double check all work done to your bike. BE SAFE!!!
