Anodized clutch plate

big thanks to Tom ground pounder who made his way up to flint to assist in changing out pressure plat throughout bearing etc. . Only to find out it already had an anadized plate and it really needs a clutch pack. With only 5,000 mile on it the only explanation we can come up with is that it sat in showroom and never started for 4 years.

Ah well I'll order a clutch pack Monday it's all good as I really enjoy working on bikes.

If it wasn't adjusted right and was slipping
We adjusted it every way possible. The best result was was one half turn in past rod contact and still had a light pull with clutch in.
So we made a call we were instructed it was the clutch pack without hesitation.

What's a compensator ?
It's on the front sprocket its supposed to smooth out the drivetrain. Just never seen on a BD.

The compensator sprocket dampens (reduces) torsional vibration created by thecrankshaft so it is not transmitted through the drivetrain causing rider discomfort and premature component wear.

Patent definition: A shock-absorbing sprocket or gear assembly or like torsionally elastic device is described having resilient cushioning means interposed between mating lugs of the hub and rim to smooth and dampen torsional shocks and vibrations produced by a power drive train. An improved radial bearing surface is provided which maintains symmetry of the bearing load with respect to the drive, and which ensures concentricity between the hub and rim and keeps the rim from wobbling axially or orbiting radially with respect to the hub during operation.

Sorry meant to say never seen it on an 05+ . I actually thought they wouldn't fit due to the primary cover being shallow.

But I agree not sure why your 04 put has it and my 04 was solid.

Maybe we can get some input from a resident former motor builder @ BDM? Hey Mike, you out there? Whats up with these compensators?

Ya so one of the metal plates in the clutch pack was looking suspect because it didn't lay flat very well so we put it in the middle.
Going to order a new clutch pack from energy one tomorrow
