annoying sound

I have a 2004 ridgeback, when riding normal and get on gas kind or hard. there is a high pitch sound . seems it it close to top of engine. thanks for any help guys:flag:

First make sure you are not lugging it too much. Second, read the other thread about 110 Octane and the comments about pre-detonation and timing. I can get the same thing sometimes if I roll it hard in 4th or 5th when I should probably kick it down to 3rd.

I had a high pitch sound and it was because my pipes were rubbing together. I lost some exhaust bolts.

Just a suggestion, there could be a bunch of things.

Not to hijack your thread but I have a "chirp" sound (high pitch) when I decelerate from higher RPM's. It's a split second high pitch sound. I thought perhaps it was a loose belt, but it's tight...very little wiggle to it. Can't really pin point where it's from either --- but it's not affecting any performace.

I've been reading these threads trying to see if anyone has a similiar issue and how they resolved it.

I have developed a chirp that is present only at low rpm and idle and convinced myself it was exhaust leak at the bolt on joint of my V&H 2-into-1. I couldn't confirm it and had Jamie's Customs take a look and while doing a 15,000 mile check on my re-build. Turns out it is some kind of breather chirp created by the air intake into my Super G under low rev plus low load conditions. The bike is running so strong and perfect we both agreed to leave it alone but it sure bugs me when I come to a stops sign or traffic light. It goes away almost immediately upon acceleration and does not return when I am at reasonably slow mph/slow rpm and relying on the torque (not lugging). I have to stop.

My Ridge does the same thing. I can pinpoint mine to the carb/intake area so I chalked it up to just an intake whistle (I had a Cummins diesel pick up so whistles dont really bother me too much :D). Like the rest mine does it when Im in 5th or 6th and lugging it, if I downshift and twist hard it goes away.
