Jeff, I thought it was strange this morning when you asked me if I shipped your stuff when I texted you.

I thought I may of texted wrong person. Super Frustrating there are people out there like that.

My guess is the FORUM TROLL, seen our conversation on the SWAP MEET Page. Then once he seen your cell phone posted. He then proceeded to HiJack the conversation. At that point he texted you, ahead of me, as you and I had not made Contact yet, other than thru the Forum. I think at this point, if anyone is communicating via text, etc, be super cautious.

This shit makes me nervous and untrusting. Shoot I'm just a new Big Dog owner that is new to this awesome forum. Definitely do not wish anyone being scammed.
Really? Someone texted Jeff and acted as you?

That is a new low. You are correct with the pandemic/endemic whatever the hell anyone wants to call it we have unfortunately been hit by trolls posing as legit sellers. This I have seen across the board it's not just us. Seems to be a lot of scams on motorcycle parts on various platforms.

I hope you both can work out a tin swap still and you both stuck around. Your tins will interchange no problem. Considering the frame color difference y'all may just want to trade bikes straight up ..haha

Yes he did pose as Chopper Dave. Never seen anything like that. Ended up not doing the tin swap. The frame for me was going to be an issue as mine is black. In the end just stayed with my black. Now trying to get the money beck from this other loser who scammed. I doubt I will see it. Just sucks what people do.

Hello, yeah it is a low for sure. However, as you have said, everyone/forum is dealing with these type of scammers. This kind of stuff is on the rise, on many different platforms. I actually work in a IT group, and we combat it daily within our organization. It's a tough issue, as like with Jeff and I, he merely just gave me his cell phone number so that we could reach out to one another. But the troll intercepted that. Definitely has to be a lot of checks and balances when doing business online, outside of an e-commerce platform. Pretty sad though, as that's the way us honest people have always done business.

I think Jeff got scammed around $200.00. That's a lot of money for most of us, I know for me it is. I'm married with kids, and typically anytime I order bike parts, I'm usually tied into some rationale with the wife why i need this part, and all my reasoning why I am going to spend more money on my motorcycle when I really need to fix the fence. Or I make the purchase and explain it later. But spending the money, and not getting the part, is a real mind fxck, and explanation.

As far as frame color, yeah mine is navy blue, and figured his was black. Thoughts crossed my mind, hum! LOL

Ah, yes I remember the days of trying to educate my users of the red flags for scams, spams and trojans, viruses etc.

Did it for a lot of years -- None of my users ever got bit very bad at work at least.

Best demo I did back in the day (when we still used floppies) was to setup a machine in the conference room and reboot with a floppy in the boot drive (that's how the virus effected the machine) and then trie dto reboot correctly -- which of course failed.

Ok, people there went all your work. You're resume, everything!
Bang -- that was the magic word "resume" suddendly I had everyones attention and trained not to reboot with a floopy in the drive!

Got hit with one email based one, most people were in a big meeting -- Wrote a quick script that parsed the email system and force deleted it -- most people never knew.

Mike

If we'd execute a few of these fools we might make people think twice -- I believe Identify theft should be a felony with a mandatory long sentence if not death!

He got me for $180. Working with bank but it was through zelle so not sure much can be done. I am sure I am out the money and yes it is a lot of money. I believe in karma and he will get his in the end. First time for me as I am usually ultra careful. However, with timing of his text, knowledge and we connected through the forum it appeared legit. So mad I cannot even see straight but not much else I can do. Extremely expensive lesson.

That is a painful story. I have a spike air breather off my ‘04 ridgeback you can have if it fits your bike. If that’s what you were thinking you’d get from the dirtbag
