Am I wrong for wanting performance?

I just received an earful from my wife regarding my " tinkering" with our vehicles. I always want to get the best performance out of my vehicles as possible, so I do a lot of reading up on what is considered the best bang for the buck. We have a second generation Dodge Ram with a 12 valve Cummins that dyno'd 592 at the wheels (without the propane injection hooked up). We have an 06 Jeep SRT8, with 425 hp stock, which I am currently installing a Paxton supercharger on (I think this is why I got the lecture). She says the Jeep is a daily driver and doesn't want a "hot rod" for running errands or taking the dog for a cruise. I did remind her that our Challenger has remained untouched since the day it was delivered (simply due to it being a documented 1 of 1 car). So my question to the masses; is my wife right ? Have I gone too far in my quest for performance ?

Negative rubber ducky! My wife thought I was nuts when I bought my K9 and then dropped about 4k into it on upgrades and then another 2k into engine upgrades. Then we had this ass Rev on us at a light on his cute vrod and spanked him numerous times.. then she thought it was all worth it.. I have a stock 2012 durango rt and this ass in his convertible gt mustang kept messing with us, let's just say in the end he was pissed to get spanked by a grocery getter.. I know immature, but who doesn't like bragging rights for quick rides? She then also understood why when we picked it out we didn't go with the "cheaper one" and has also had some stories of her own glory in it.. so point being if it makes u feel good, go for it!!

I am in deed a Mopar man myself, I have a 96 ram short bed regarding cab with a modern 5.7 hemi, no s/c, but it's chipped with injectors, cam, lifters, rockers, intake.. never ran it, but it spanks them srt rams and so on.. had a charger for about a year, sweet ride but wasn't practical with three kids ya know. Love to get a challenger and mock it up with a Cuda kit.. but ya know.. money money money.. and I think I'd rather put it into another Big Dog. Currently have a fury and my K9 and would love to get one of them 2016's.. just trying to let em get out there and get some feedback before I do so ya know

There's always going to be some one out there with more power.:yesnod: I take it your a Dodge or Mopar guy as myself, but what makes your Challenger a 1 off?
Absolutely mopar all the way.. The Challenger graphics we have we're not an option, although they were on the 2009 Challenger brochure. Challengers are built in Brampton Ontario, and I have some friends who are supervisors on the line. They arranged for a graphics guy to come into the plant to apply the stripes. Also Mopar performance chrome T shift handle, and black leather with orange alcantara inserts, front and rear seats. All three items were not available for factory install (dealer install only), with the pull of my contacts at the Brampton plant all three went on the build sheet. I ordered the car from the dealership in July of 2007, and took delivery Nov. 2008. It may be some minor things, but no other build sheet from the 2009 model year has those options on it.

The car looks great, but is it a SRT or an R/T? The grill has R/T and in 08' they only had SRT's. I have an 09' R/T with the maxicare warranty for life, unlimited mileage and years, they only offered it in 09':old2:

It is an 09 RT, the SRT logo seats were all they could get at time of build (with the orange inserts). Although I ordered it in 07 and took delivery in 08, it is an 09 model year. What color is yours? You into the old Mopars?

Came across these in small town Saskatchewan at a campground, the owner told me the story of each car, which by the way have been sitting idle for over 20 years. He also had 3 running 426's..image.jpeg

I asked what he wanted for the super bee, coronet and cuda.. He told me they were not for sale, such a shame to waste this heritage.

Hey now.. whatcha mean for mopars.. lol.. the only reason I personally became a Mopar fan is I was a mechanic for many years and Mopar was what I worked on the least.. just sayin

Very tough to make a call on this. Seems like more info is needed. I think a pic of the wife might be in order here.....lol

Sounds about right Doug, you haven't gone too far my friend. The hands have to stay busy. My wife goes on sometimes about my projects and engine builds as well, but when she hears those engines roar her eyes light up. :old2:

That's funny how that happens, my dad always had Mopar and that's what I always have stayed with over the years since getting my drivers license.:oldlaugh:
