Went to go ride today weather was in the 70s. Got on the bike and went to fire it up and nothing just clicked, I just ordered a yusa battery had it on the charger was told to leave it on around 10 hours so i did. I put the battery on and it fired right up rode for about 1 hour and stopped to get something to eat, when i was leaving the bike just clicked didnt want to fire up . I checked all the battery connections all tight and checked the cable to the starter everything was all good and tight. Finally i was frustrated so i took off pushing it and threw it into gear fired right up rode it back home shut it off and went to turn it off again and the same thing the starter just clicked. I guess i need a new starter??????? If so does anybody know about how much they run or if they are difficult to install??

if you can get it cranked again, check the battery with a volt meter to make sure that it's staying right around 13.8 volts. if the battery is being charged then it might be the starter solenoid plunger and worth the time to check it out.

i just went out to the garage took that cover off and pulled the plunger out the copper ring looks a little scraped up but not dirty at all i went to put the plunger back in and i pushed it to far and it cranked so i put it all together and cranked it up and it turned on 3 times in a roll . So im guessing maybe the plunger??? I will check the voltage in the morning and see how much volts it has

thats good news, it's probably those contact points. glad I could point you in the right direction and hope it works out for you.

Its probably not the starter...

First off the battery with the bike sitting should be 12.8 volts and high 14s with RPM.

I'm betting your circuit breaker is poped. Look for this gray box with the posts on it. You're may be in a different location. There is a little button on it. Push it in. If you feel it click, its poped. It always even when its not poped will wiggle a bit.

Did you jump start your bike sometime before the new battery? I'm betting you did and that is probably what poped it. This is where the voltage from the Voltage Regulator (which gets its power from the stator) goes to the battery.

Further, when jumping a bike NEVER hook it up to a running car. The voltage and amps coming from a car's alternator is TOO much.

I speak from expierence on this.

the only thing i did was push start it after it had the new battery in it took the cover off and checked the plunger out when i push it back in it turned over so i put the cover back on and it fired right up check the voltage on the battery it is right at 13. Does my 01 pitbull have that circuit breaker on it???? I did not notice it if it does i guess i will have to do a lil more checking.

You should have the circuit breaker. It look like the one in the picture above. The little black thing on the grey box is the reset.

Some of the circuit breaker buttoms are on the bottom to keep moisture from getting in. Mine is on the bottom, and easy to reach.

Clean the copper plunger washer and seat. Or buy a kit from JP Cycles.

I have not found any circuit breaker on the bike ive looked under the battery mat, under the frame i even went as far as trying to take the starter off and i have found anything. I think i might just take it to the dealer and see what they can do with it

Check all of your wires. my friend had the same issue on his hellbound chopper and he found a bad wire connection, after he spent 250 on a new starter that did not help. good luck.
