So I own a 2008 EFI K-9. I just noticed a few months ago that at about 2100 rpm or below as I am coming to a stop before pulling in clutch, my bike makes a sound like a Jake brake on a big truck. lol

Sounds like the engine has cut off or lost power..sounds funny to me..lol but you can hit the throttle and it fires right back up like its normal.

I did the BDM EHC delete kit and had my S&S Fuel Injected computer reprogrammed for the Bank angle sensor by S&S and I'm noticing this noise.

I was told by BDM and S&S Techncial that is has been there all along????

Can some of you guys or gals ride your bike and as you are coming to a stop in second gear, let the bike start idling down as low as you can before you pull the clutch in and see if you hear the same sound on your bike. Thanks

Help please. Am I crazy??? lol

I've been riding it since 08 and never noticed it..WTF

Thanks

Happens all the time on my 07 efi Bulldog. if you don't like it, keep the rpms up. I don't think it is a problem, but i'm not a mechanic.

Is your bike stock? I mean no wires plus kit or BDM delete. Thanks

Never noticed such a sound from my 08 K9 EFI. Mine is completely stock. I'll listen better next time I ride. Sorry I couldn't help.

Installed wire plus kit last year and have the vance and hines big radius 2x2. I did pull the baffles and cut in half trying to get a better sound. Still not happy with the sound so probably will pick up a set of big city baffles and hopefully get rid of the tin can sound. It's hell when your harleys sound better than the dog. I think if I could get the right fitment from Bassanni, I would go with a two into one on the dog. Those are some good sounding pipes.

I got the V&H Big radius, no baffles, love the sound of mine. Had the same pipes on my 04 Chopper. My dog sounds bad ass and LOUD. lol

I like the 2 in 1 Bassani's. BDM went out of business before they made some for us.

Listen for the cut off on your bike, sounds kinda weird now that I know its there.

I don't hear shit. I'm basically deaf from riding this thing....
Me too, :D

I hate to say it, but on a long ride, I just started wearing ear plugs. When I stop now, I can actually hear, instead of trying to read lips..

Why do you run the engine in gear to that low of an RPM? Seems like the bike would jerk from the drivetrain slop.

I pull in the clutch and coast to the stop then downshift to first gear just before putting my feet down at a complete stop.

No drivetrain slapping, downshifting stress on trans/primary or loose clutch basket nut.

I'll try your shifting technique and see what it does.

My bike doesn't jerk n stuff at that speed, I'm moving along pretty good at 2100 rpm coming to a stop. I love to hear that popping and crackling when you let off the throttle. :D

lol, I can ride this beast. No abuse on the tranny to much, except maybe a little on acceleration shifting. :whoop:

I've been on bikes since a very young age. :2thumbs::cheers:

I have the unlocked version of the S&S VFI on the K9 with 2-2 V&H/BCT QQ baffles, .585 cam, roller rockers and do not hear such a thing nor do I want to.

The V&H pipes in my opinion sound like crap without baffles and decel popping but that's just me. To be honest I think the pipes sound better w- original BCT thunder baffles.

Check it out, S&S said it is on every K-9??? I'm not certain about that.

When I did the BDM EHC delete kit, I noticed the sound. S&S first said I could fix it with a unlocked S&S EFI computer. I replaced the locked BDM computer with an unlocked one from S&S and downloaded the sent program from S&S and the bike still has the cutoff sound at 2150 rpm or so idling down. so WTF
