Alarm System?

I had the scorpio on my Bulldog when the first ei ei o (EHC) damn near burned up the bike. It was under warranty and when I contacted the dealer I spoke to the service mgr. who was a friend and was advised to remove the alarm before they came to pick it up and I did and just never put it back on. I spoke to Ohmster about it and he told me not to worry about having the alarm system but not to hook the perimeter system up. It's in a box somewhere. :)

My rule is if your eyes or your butt aren't on the bike it should be in the garage. Just my .02

After looking at a few of them, at $29.99/month, insurance is cheaper and if the vehicle sits for any period of time, it will drain the battery if its not unplugged. Some only update hourly, if they pull the battery, its dead

The other thing is, talking about popping a cap in their ass, really isn't gonna be worth it to spend some time, unless its on your own property, jail time, or a gun fight if their also carring ain't worth no bike.:2cents:
I do carry, but life is more important than a bike, choose wisely, or pay dearly:oldnono:

I've put my ignition switch on a hidden toggle switch, then wired the key switch, to the horn, and leave the key in it. I hear horn, person dies of lead poisoning. Simple, and cheep. Plus, it's insured for twice what it's worth.
an .45 Glock is a great alarm system:oldlaugh::oldlaugh:......
I'll have my Ruger KP-90 and SCCY CPX-2 along, but if I don't know they're screwing with my bike ...
You need to move bro.... In my town nobody messes with us because we all have guns and dogs... When the SHTF you will be screwed....
Not trying to start anything, here are a few of the comments about alarms

I think a disc brake lock with integrated alarm will be the best fit for now. The SCCY along with my Woolrich Elite jacket are a great concealed carry setup!
Interesting point Jeff. I would be very interested to find out the alarm reporting statistics. For example, once the device is armed, from alarm execution to your notification exactly how long will it take? The average time for a professional to steal a motorcycle is roughly 30 seconds. This would include disabling your alarm system.

If the alarm sounds an audible alarm event and forwards a notification to your cell phone, pager or provides a text message is roughly about 1 to 2 minutes between event start and notification being received. You may have a chance if someone else is around and hears your alarm and takes some form of action (calls 911). If no audible alarm (silent) is triggered, seems your bike may be gone before you actually get notified of the event. Just sayin..

My bike is always under surveillance. At home or in the hotel parking area I always make sure it is covered by a camera. Best deterrent ever. I did have a bike stolen once and was given the name of the thieves by the cop, they will never ever be able to ride a bike again so it helped my feelings a little bit..... It's amazing what a 2' piece of 2x4 can do to a hand I tell ya....

As for carrying, yes always, but it doesn't help as much as a camera starring at the bike.

Appears to be a good Idea but hmm a camera as a deterrent (offensive security for a bike not physically locked down to anything)?. I'd steal the camera, then your bike. Does your camera page, call or text when it's taking pictures while your bike is being stolen? Or are you counting on hiding the camera so when you check your bike and it's gone you hope it was caught on camera? And what about my privacy you broke with your camera recording (while I was parking my car in the hotel parking lot)? Sounds interesting to say the least. Just sayin..

Good luck, good recording, glad your 2x4 had a positive impact, and safe trails.. :chopper:

I have surveillance cameras at home, and yes they go off and send me the recording if anyone goes in to my shop that are not welcome there (my home security system recognize it if it is wife/kids). As for the hotels, I never stay at hotels without video surveillance and do not run around with my own camera. I'm a KISS kinda guy and like to take advantage of todays technology so as to eliminate any thief, or in worst case scenario find out who it is and make sure he/she will never touch a bike again. The disk brake lock with a built in little screamer would be the only other system I would even consider for those few moments the bike might not be under surveillance. Ya see? Keeping it simple works.....

The time I'll be concerned is at night in the campground. If I use a decent disc lock with alarm (probably a Xena 10mm or 14mm), and as long as it makes noise, the .45 can be in someone's face in 30sec, the wife can back me up with the 9mm. I'll have long, heavy zip ties handy too. :D

I believe they are talking security here Ker, your fur covered handcuffs won't do in this situation! :oldnono::oldhardlaugh::oldhardlaugh::oldhardlaugh:
They are fur covered Chubs, good guess. You can use them on the swing arm thru the rear wheel or on a spoke and around a front fork leg. What were you thinking Chubs:oldconfused::oldnono::oldlaugh:

Little late to this post but hey... I have the Scorpio, works great, anyone moves, tilts, tries to put a key in and turn it on, Siren goes off and ignition is disabled, I believe there is also a perimeter feature, but with people wanting to get a closer look, and being parked around big crowds, that would be a nightmare..

On another note, we live in S. Scottsdale, gated community with a security gaurd, and you are more than welcome to store it in the garage next to the K9 and the wife's Ducati

I used to have that Scorpio alarm on the pit bull and liked it. I don't like reading directions so never really figured it out and decided to sell it. I like the alarm I posted due to gps, perimeter monitoring and bike movement options. Oh btw neither one of my bikes have a ehc... Bd pit bull with wp and bbc sled with a wp

I just keep insurance on mine. I park it anywhere I want.....if it gets stolen I'll jut buy another. Mines a 06 with over 30,000 miles, there probably going to steal yours before mine anyway :)

I'll use a Xena XX-14 for this trip. After dealing with the wiring harness to install the new Badlands module and get the front turn signals working, I'm a bit burned out on wiring. Maybe get an alarm installed this summer when it's warmer.
The XX-14 should work well.

My bike was in my carport in view of the security camera with a hardened steal chain and braided steel cable on the front wheel locking it to a 6x6 post, with S&W handcuffs locking the rear wheel to the frame. The handcuffs couldn't be seen unless you raised the saddlebags. All of this didn't stop the assholes from stealing it. Oh, and the police station was right across the street. The only thing the camera did was give me one last look at my bike as the asshole rolled it away. If they want it, they will get it.
