Yeah Hoat....he's got that Doherty Power Pac.......Gas ordered the same one too! When I get my carb XXX next year...I am going to get that Doherty Power Pac set up too! it really makes the XXX carb look great!
Don't mean to copy everyone, but I just bought the S&S Desp. air cleaner, and the Power Pacc, and the XXX. Looks like a great set up can't wait for it all to arrive.:bang:

Would like to see pics of the S&S duel.

My God Mario how many bikes do you own? I see two dogs in your garage.

Bring It!
I had bad luck with the spike air cleaner. I had it on my 05 chopper with work done to the motor, it wouldn't flow air for shit. I sold it to a guy that didn't care about performance and when he put it on his bike and had it dyno'd to set the carb up it lost HP.

I've had the D&M Raptor air cleaner on my K9 for about nine months, I really like the way it looks, that's one of the first things people say about my bike...cool air cleaner...it was a bitch to dial in though...still don't have my carb exactly the way I want it, I go though sparkplugs about every 300 miles...too rich...I had the larger Red Shift cam installed, port & polished, stronger springs...so all this in conjunction with the new air cleaner has me all screwed up...
You may as well have left it stock with that air cleaner. You will never get it pull up top to it's full potential. I bet it fouls the front plug?

I really like the Spike air cleaners. I had a cheap (non billet) one on my Harley and I did notice a seat of the pants improvement over the stock air cleaner.

The only draw back is above 70 mph in the rain, the motor would cough a little from water making it in.

Thinking about replacing the stock air cleaner with something else. Figured you guys may have some ideas! Post up so I can spend some $$$

If you have one that you suggest would you please give me the pros and cons.

Thanks

There is an article on the improvements that are gained by using the Doherty PowerPacc. There is also an article on tuning the S&S carb. The issue is definitely worth the price.

Like others here I run the S&S Desperado. Don't bother with the extended air filter -- uncomfortable against the inside of your right knee and provides no real noticible increase in perf.

I'm going to have to disagree. First, the stock size filter only flows in the mid 200cfm range. I read in an article that a 117ci engine needs about 310 cfm. The S&S Big filter is rated at 325 cfm. Granted, on a 100% stock bike you may not notice the higher rpm gains since the stock cam and exhaust are such MAJOR restrictions, but with my 600 cam and pipes there is a major gain in seat of the pants power with the extended filter.

I'm planning a dyno tune probably this week. We'll see what the A/F looks like across the entire rpm range to determine this filter kit's effectiveness.

Hey Vegas,
You are right on...the front plug fouls big time while the rear plug is almost perfect...I like the look of the spike air filter, any suggestions on how to correct my front plug issue?
