Looks like something I should check inot for you guys.

Doesn't have to be a group buy but how much interest would there be if I was able to get set-up?

I personnaly like the Crane HI-4. I've installed about 200 of them on Harleys and Big Dogs and run them in both of my bikes. The only problem is they are no longer available as Crane sold their electronics division (motorcycle) to S&S. At least that's what everyone is telling me. The ONLY experience I've ever personally had with Dyna is sitting on the side of the road with 20 miles on a brand new unit. I've heard great things about the Daytona Twin Tech. It's gaining popularity among the AHDRA folks. Good luck!

On the Harley I run the Dyna-S (single fire), dual coils, dual plugs, manual advance, and a rev limiter set at 6K.

Since installation the bike starts easier, runs smoother and cooler. I know this will sound odd but the bike almost has a sweet smell when you ride behind it, there's no gas smell whatsoever it burns so clean!

Installation is a piece of cake and once adjusted I haven't had to change the timing since install. For prices you'll have to check out their website or another dealer...

My FatBoy hasn't let me down in 14 years with this system! :2thumbs:

Dual plugs??? As in 2 plugs per cylinder? I've not seen a Harley with 2 plugs/cylinder, Honda does it, so do the other metrics.... always thought it would be great to do it on a Harley type motor (ie: BigDog).... am I off here?

You heard right, I have two plugs per cylinder. The second set was machined into the existing head by a gentleman named Jim Libonati at Megaflo,Megaflow,Harley Davidson, Buell, S&S cylinder head porting and high performance, racing, modifications, flow testing. :2thumbs:

Here's what it looks like...

There's probably 40K or more on this set up and it's never even had a hiccup!

LDO and GAS is this a difficult install to do? I'm great on a wrench, but wiring scares the CRAP out of me.
Can-Dog,
I myself have not done this upgrade but have discussed it with several members whose tech advice/opinions I value. All were confident I could get 'r done and mentioned it was an easy job.

I would like to know as well. Sounds like a worthwhile improvement over the stock setup.

I can vouch for the quality of Dyna. I've been running a single fire, dual plug, manual timing adjust, Dyna setup in my 81 Shovel since 1989. At the top of the pic you can just barely see that I mounted the coils up in the tunnel of the gas tank so they're completely hidden and custom cut the lengths of the spark plug wires. I have not touched the timing on this bike in 20 years. Absolutely perfect!!!

Wow....Beautiful scoot 2004BC...triggered alot of memories.
Me and my buddy did the dual plug set up on an old Panhead back in the late 70's

Glad to bring back the memories Five Five. I'm also running the Dudley lifters which later were marketed by Rivera to straighten out the vale train geometry. Lots of ingenuity was needed to make the antique engineering of shovels and pans perform at any decent level. Relating to the posters topic, I built a couple of shovels with Morris Magneto's which got rid of the nose cone points setups. Electronic ignitions were a big improvement when they came out!!!:cheers:

Oh yea I almost forgot. I've been running the SU carb on this bike for 20 years and it still SUCKS!!!! but it looks damn good! Classic example of sacrificing performance for looks!

Oh yea again, The Amal carb on my pan was WORSE!!!!!

Those SU's were pretty popular back in the 70's and 80's although as you stated most hated them but they do look good.

Kinda like I hated my ole shovelhead back in the day but they sure are making a comeback now!!!

We just set up with Twin Tec last week. We have an AIH that is in need of an upgrade.

I can check into tomorrow and get back to you.

If you are interested, I should be able to help you out on the price as well.
