Advice on possible sale

Finally thinking of selling the Mastiff and could use some feedback. I've researched prices (Kelley and Cycle Trader) and have a pretty good idea of what to expect for a stock '04. Like many on this site, I have invested probably 6-7 G in improvements and customizations. The bike needs NOTHING in terms of repair or maintenance. 13,500 miles, 1 owner, garaged, custom bars, hand controls, mirrors, rims, rotors, pulley, air cleaner, pipes, total Harley style rewire, etc. on and on forever, you get the picture. So here's my question-What, if anything, should a reasonable person expect to recover on these improvements on the sale of the bike? I'm not the kind of person to just pick a high price and throw it out there hoping to find a sucker willing to overpay, but I'm not really into screwing myself, either. Your thoughts?

She damn sure looks like a keeper. I'm the worlds worst about pricing stuff to sell. I just sold a 08 streetglide(pictures on here somewhere) for 15,500 and probably had almost twice that much in it. I tried the local craigslist and all I got was lowballers and scammers. Finally sold it thru word of mouth to a guy 10 minutes from the house. By the way, he is my newest best buddy good luck with the pricing and better luck on the sale.

Plan and simple, if someome really wants it, they will pay. start high, more than wants you think you will pay, negotiate from there.

I would look on cycle trader, etc and see if you can get a good idea of the value.

Already looked on cycle trader, not a lot of help, people are all over the place on asking prices. NADA and Kelley say about $11,000 for "average retail", whatever that is. I'm thinking of asking around $13000-14000. Opinions?

I just bought an '08 Mastiff. Did a nationwide search. Took my time, researched, talked to big dog techs. I targeted an '08 and paid $17.5k from a dealer. Could of paid less from an individual.

Basically most of the bikes were going for book value or sitting and not being sold.

I agree with what's being said. Ask above average retail and see what happens, that is a fine looking ride. The wheels and exhaust are SWEET.

Depends on how bad you want to sell. Price it higher if you really are not needing a quick sale.
Also, this is the hardest time of year to sell a bike. Many thinking of upgrading are selling there current bike and will wait until spring to buy.
