Advice on extended forward controls

I just bought a 2004 mastiff. I am 6'1" 34" pants in length. I have done alot of research on hear and everybody says their height but not their leg size. So, I dont know what the best length of extensions would be. Also, the plus to the bdm 2.5" or the DM customs 3". It seems the BDM with the shifter bracket looks more factory but the brake side uses an adapter plate. Also, I see some kits with bdm dont come with the extended brake line. Please some honest pro's and cons to each would be nice. They are slightly different in price as well. Thanks in advance

I have 5" DM extension on my K9, and I'm 6'3 35"inseam. Was very easy to install. Just need a drill to clear the thread on original brake side adapter plate. There shoud be enough lenght on brake line for 2.5" extension. If not, you can get longer brake line or extension from HD. (somebody correct me if I'm wrong)
While making more room I installed Sterling solo seat and chopper handlebar, now the bike fits me way better. Only thing with 5" extension is, they seem to come rather close to ground on turns... may grind your boot heels

I wish I had more money.
I have an 03 Mastiff. I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam. I put the 2.5" on my bike and it is almost too long. I don't think I would go with the 5". If your asking my opinion go 2.5" or 3".

I am 5'9" with a 33 inseam and bought the 3" extensions from DM Customs. Not only does it fit perfectly but Doug and Myrna (at DM) were great help and very easy to work with on the details.

I still need to get a longer rear brake line but the original line is still working- just really tight. The position is awesome. I ride a 2008 Mastiff.

Thanks for the reply's. I feel the 5" would be to long for me. I did a test too see where my leg would be at 2 1/2. Wasnt sure if I would even notice a half inch. I do like that the BDM gives you a new shifter rod and whole bracket for the left side. But, they do cost more. I was actually thinking the seat would be a good idea if I wanted a lil more. So I gather that either system is great to buy and cant go wrong. Correct?

I've got the BDM-2.5 extensions, I'm 6'2"-34" inseam. I always felt like I could use a little more. But I guess not really worth changing. I didn't use the brake-line extension . It had plenty of slack.

Have an 04 Mastiff also, 6' tall, installed the DM 3" on mine, easy install, had to buy a longer break line, about $30 bucks at a local custom bike shop. Would like to try the 5" but they might be a bit long, I think at your height they would be fine.

I am 6'5 in W/38 inseam. I have 3 inch ext. and they are very comfortable compared to stock. IMO the 5 inch would be too much stretch. good luck!

2004 Ridgeback, 6' 3" with 34" pants. Went with DM 3". Had to add a 3" brake line extension but no big deal. Fit is PERFECT!!! Good quality parts.

I'm 6'2" and all I did was send my seat to Scott (seatmaker) and had him remove a couple inches off of the back of the seat and all is good. You might want to give that a try first and have him redo your seat while he has it.

Just an idea and what I did.

I sent seatmaker a message and didnt hear back. Not sure if he is still doing it. How much did he charge you?
Can't really remember..... I had it done years ago. He's still around, give him a little time. Did you try and contact him through his web site?

I'm 5'1" with a 49" inseam. I have been kick in the ass so many time in life that this is the result. I run the 2.5" extension but i have to sit on the rear fender. Scot made a special seat for me:roll:
