Buddy has a 07 Big Dog Chopper that when it is warm bangs SUPER LOUD out of the exhaust, and at times it struggles to turn over and he actually busted a starter shaft one time because of this. The current Ignition Module on it is Non Adjustable. Is there an adjustable Ignition out there that can be installed to retard the timing to stop this Insane Banging ? Its not just a Pop it is like a Cannon going off.

Looking for something close to plug and play don't want to spend days rewiring and retrofitting.

All info and help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

I'd look into what Jeremy mentions. Compressed air pushing back down could bust shafts. The one way starter clutch goes freewheel when the engine runs, starts, etc. Shaft busts are comp induced, not run induced. Make sense? Where franco's thread mentions carb adjusting. A quick visual at a plug's porcelain would show rich/lean... and go from there.

As far as the non-adjust ign, I'd run a timing light on the engine to see if it curves to full advance. If this has a VOES kind of vacuum switch, I'd check the vac hose from engine to the unit. The bang happens when warm. Air expands and that means lean. Back to jetting.

Sounds more like a compression release issue, just because they move doesn’t mean they are working properly, one or both could be weak, definitely not ignition
Is there a way to test the compression releases and where do I purchase them ? Also but back to the question, Where and what Brand of Adjustable Ignition is available for purchase that he doesn't have to rewire the bike ? Thanks again for the suggestions.

Backfire is out of the carb - afterfire is out of the exhaust. As Seven said air going the wrong way can break the shaft. I had a similar problem and changed the ignition - with a 117 the timing runs of the crank sensor. I plugged that hole and ran a Crane high output ignition off the cam. In order to do that I changed the BDM came case to a Jim's standard Evo. No problems since.
