Adding Speedo back? after a rewire

So are my assumptions correct, giving the gauge power, ground, and the signal coming from the tranny sensor. will work both the speed, and the Odometer (working mileage is useful on gas, and maintenance.)

If I get a guse with other indicators like the dummy lights, what do they hook to? oil for instance. I can find neutral haha But its its as simple as a wire, I may hook that us as well.
Unless all this will need a Brain again.. then its not worth it.

I will also assume if i added turn signals back in, there would be 2 wires for the indicators in the speedo, so that's probably easy IF I did that. But with the bars on it probably not adding switches.

If you do go to the penta star, it can use very small switches (mine is switched by the stock bd pc boards which are rated for barely any current) throw a couple small momentary buttons under and behind the tank, or anywhere hidden.

Now thats a cool idea, wire in the controler, and have some small hidden switches, where i can reach down hit the turn signal and keep rolling. Nice idea on that. i guess for starters I will work on getting a speedo working. But great idea.

Oil and neutral are both ground switches.

Neutral for example is a normally closed switch, that is held open in gear, then in neutral, the plunger is undepressed and completes the circuit to ground.

Wire any bulb/led to power in series and you will have it.

For turn sig indicators, just wire a indicator bulb/led in the same circuit as the blinker and they will blink with them.

So if i buy a gauge that has the dummy lights built in, and the gauge has 12V & ground to work with speed anyway. Then all I need is one wire for oil, and one wire to neutral. and they will work.

that's cool to know. wonder if those switches are still on the tranny?

Not sure which system your bike has, but it would be either the ignition module or the crank sensor.

my bike has no brain. just strait wired. SO i guess the crank sensor would do it?

maybe find a Speedo/tach and do both.

It would have to have an ignition module of some form, like mine has a daytona twintec nestled in the snout under the timing cover, any brand should have a tach signal wire. The crank sensor has to "talk" to something if it has a module outside the timing cover.
