Adding Lucas Oil additive to the scooter

I recently changed my oil and put the Mobil 1 synthetic V twin in it . I have always used Lucas products with success in everything. I called Lucas yesterday and asked about adding the Oil additive to the synthetic oil and he said sure you can. He told me to take about 12 ounces of oil out and add 12 ounces of the lucas oil additive back in it. I am going to do that after while. I feel better about doing it after asking the guys at Lucas. Thinks the next time I change the oil in the scooter I will probably put the Lucas oil in it too. He said they changed a lot of oil at Sturgis for people and everyone liked it.

I used to run the synthetic in mine....changed back to regular 20-50 a couple of years ago (TP rockers and to much top end noise) and have been using the Lucas for a couple of years. I usually add about a half quart. No problems with it and even less top end noise.

I always run a half bottle of Lucas with each semi-synthetic oil change. I feel it helps with dry start-up on cylinder walls.

Understands about the diesel engine and I am kind of " ain't " going to put it in my deisel truck either. The guy at Lucas said I could , but like I said Ain't happening. I change the oil in it exactly when it is suppose to be changed and in everything as well. I am kind of Anal is a good word about trying to do the best for all engines running around here...
I have already decided to put regular 20/50 back in it. But I have run the oil additive in mowers running throttle wide open all the time with not an issue,, knock on wood ,,,

Amsoil here. Typically during the summer months, I run two quarts 20/50 and one quart straight 60, slight bit of piston slap at times but no valve train noise.

I Tried synthetic oil once. But when I got home from the shop I had oil running out of every crack in the bike. I put Valv 20-50 back in with a qt of lucas and all the leaks fixed themselves.

I Remember reading that and thinking wow it sure was cold out I don't use Lucas in the BD but do in the 91FLH .. when it comes to oil , ambient temp plays a big part as well a engine temp in how the oil flows, my two cents Synthetic oil handles these temp swings better and air cooled motors have huge temperature swings Its amsoil for me in the big dog , as far as your Big Rig .. it was Very cold out and with the huge volume of oil hanging under your truck exposed to the air & with 20% Lucas added It could have got so thick that the pump could not have pumped it causing starvation on the journals, your truck had a lot of miles on it! Some of my truckin buds have over a million .. One did a in- frame overall and the bearings looked great at over a million " Dino oil only" so its anyone's guess ? I do like Lucas products , big fan of the fuel treatment . and I love the detail spray "slick mist"

Yeah cold could have had something to do with it. Although I had been using it since new and at 467000 it had seen much colder weather in Montana and the NW. I have 560000 on my rebuild now running Rotella T-6 and a bypass filter and have never dropped the oil with less than 120000 on it. I'll post up some lab analysis reports next time I get one.
I dont think in limited quanity it's gonna hurt in a air-cooled v-twin in the summer as hot as they run. Just remember your raising the viscosity of your oil when you use Lucas. That stuff pours like molasses on a December morning.

It pours like Mole Asses in the summer as well. I have not got a chance to ride it at all since I added 12 ounces/ 1.5 cups to see if it takes away some of th at valve rattling noise. If it doesn't help that it won't be in there long. I have already decided to back to regular 20/50 if it doesn't anyway. I didn't hear that noise with regular 20/50 just trying to do what is best for the motor,, that is what S&S said to run in it ?????? I do think it slicks up the cylinder walls on dry starts.

I got a chance to ride it today, to take it to get he rear tire put on and the lucas almost took all the valve rattling sound out of it. I banged it a couple times you could barely hear it but not near as bad. Seems like it is smoother as well.

That new rear tire looks sweet too. It actually has tread on it . It was easy to spot in a bunch of HD tires too.
