A way to monitor fuel condition?

Want to throw this out there for your thoughts. Ive been reading up on alot of mods/installs of inline fuel filters etc. Ive noticed a trend of debrie in the tanks in one shape or another.
Would this work as a way of monitoring it?

You have the cross over/balance tube at the base of the tank. Could you take a glass inline fuel filter, remove the filter element, so its basically a glass bowel/resovoir and install this in the balance tube? It would/should collect some of the debrie?

This way, you could monitor the condition of the fuel in your tank for debrie, at a glance.

I have parts ordered for new braided fuel lines with a filter. Might order one more glass one to try this out.

Ill add pics, when my parts come in and its on.

Your thoughts?:up::down:

Well, I tried to put the glass filter in. The space between the two outlets is not wide enough to fit the filter I have. Have replaced the existing fuel hose with a braided line instead.

Just screw one of these on the bottom of the tank! They worked for years on farm tractors (and you just needed to unscrew the hanger over the sediment bowl, empty it, and clean it out, and good to go again! AND you could see how much rust, debris, or junk was in your tank and/or gas.)

And you can get one for about 20 bucks, and has shut-off valve and strainer screen!

OF COURSE NOW, your Dog will look a little like a Farm Tractor!!:bang::bang:

look into fuel stabilizers, my first thoughts are ethenol based fuels suck at about any metric you care to put it against. It does however do an excellent job at absorbing moisture and laying waste to anything it sets in, boats, lawn mowers, weed eaters, and yes Big Dog motorcycles.
