A small wiring issue on my 2004 Ridgeback

My Ech went out a while back and I changed it to the Wire plus, bought through Jake. While I was doing this I was as my wife says kinda sleep deprived. I have everything working but my horn, as whimpy as it is, I need to get it working again. I like to beep at asleep at the wheel people every once in a while.:D
I have checked the wire placement, it is correct, and the ground is clean and tight as well I am thinking maybe the button itself, on the handlebar is fried, and I need to replace that, especially since parts might in the near future become hard to find. I am good at wrenching, but wiring gets me frustrated sometimes. Thought I would ask this treasure chest of information before I possibly screw it up even worse. ( say that with all due respect!)

Any Suggestions?

Put a test light to the wire at the horn. Turn key on press horn button see if you have power. With electrical its best to start at the source.

In the 12 pin Deutsch connector of the wire plus, pin #11 is the horn input from the hand control board.

Test that with a test light/multi meter with key on or off, doesn't matter, and see if you are getting a Negative input when you press the button at that wire.

If not, the button is shot. If you do get input, test the grey wire at the positive side of the horn, with the key ON, and see if you are getting 12 volts there. If you are, the horn itself is bad. If you are not getting 12 volts, unplug the 12 pin connector and make sure the pin #11 didn't get pushed out of the plug and they are seated good.

That should get you fixed in any way! :2thumbs:

That kinda what I thought I shopuld do, but I wanted to ask the experts, since I am doing the that sleep deprived thing again. It is suppose to rain here all day tomorrow I will do it then, possibly with some polishing as well.
Thanks to everyone who has ever helped me get this scooter back in action,
it's suppose to hit 90 here today so,,, lets go for a spin,

Thanks again Coolbreeze , and Jake,,

I didn't see any mention about the relay, could that have gone bad also?
Yea, it could, but of all the bikes I have installed the Wire-Plus in myself, Very few have bikes have the relays in them.

I don't think ANY of the 2004 and 2005 bikes had them. Mine didn't. After 2006 sometime they started installing them.
