FREEDOM!!!
'll be damned, I was there in 85 and 90 also. I'll bet we passed each other at the Chip. That was back when it's was small and good. Not it's just a huge parking lot for RV's. Nothing wrong with the RV'rs just the population of the Chip brings more restrictions now. "
Small small world!!! Do you remember in 85 a thunder/rain/wind storm tore through the Chip one night canceling the show and sending everyone running for cover? Well if you do AND you happened to see two guys standing in front of the stage drinking through the storm, even when all of the porta potties were blown flat, that would have been me and my buddy. Too drunk and too stupid to take shelter.
In 90 we bought a school bus for $500, painted it black metal flake with candy flames on the front of the bus and off the wheel wells, and parked on the hill right in front of the stage. We got there a week early to party and get a good spot.
I haven't been back since. There weren't any restrictions back then. I would be disappointed if Sturgis was now somehow commercialized and turned into an RV park. But, things change I guess. Thanks again for remembering some crazy times!!!

Dude, if you haven't been since 1990 then you wouldn't even recognize the place now. I had a gap from 91 to 2008 and boy had it changed. It's so friggin big now with 10 of thousands of RV spots and there is no longer any camping inside the arena where we camped back in the day.
