lets say i had planned a vacation centered around riding the bike and i do lots of planning and pay big bucks for places to stay and all the normal crap that goes along with it all........and on said vacation, that you only get once a year my bike was to break down due to a warranty issue or something like that, and i am hundreds of miles from home, dont know anyone, and basically my vacation just hit disaster status, yet like i said bike is still under warranty..is there some kind of service Big Dog Motorcycles provide for us as owners to help us out of this situation,is there something we get along with purchasing this bike that backs such a situatuation..and if not like say in Raywoods case traveling the hiways and biways of life in these united states of america he broke down...is there some kind of emergency service number we call,an 800 number...anything?????????i just want to know my options so that my ass is covered somehow whichway....................

Get a AAA card, with RV level service - and a list of all the Big Dog service centers along your route, from Ann at BDM.

Yep AAA gold plus member with RV... tow ANYTHING up to 100 miles. Make sure they bring a flat bed and sheep skin straps. I think if I eve do a road trip I'll pack my sheep skins and a set of straps... just for cause.

Before I started my trip I joined AAA and then called Ann at BDM and had her give me a list of all the authorized service centers along my route. She was happy to do so and wished that more people did this.
Except for my flat tire 10 miles out of Daytona I didn't have another problem coming across our big country except weather.

And I had BDM number in my cell!!!!

Later,
Ray

i am not ready for the dream trip yet maybe i am just thinkin a little ahead...but since you ask, living on the east coast gives me veiws of the various bays and rivers lakes and oceans, mountains and that long boring assed rte 95.....i have this vision of an arizona/new mexico type run,a ride that will take me on tours of the cliffs that the roadrunner has been hunted by wil e coyote for years, places that john wayne held off the indians, and brought back stolen cattle from the rustlers, a place where towns gathered to watch the hangings of various outlaws like we go to the movies,a ride that will allow my fantasy to take me back in time to a simpler day and become one with the wind,,,,that same feeling you get on your first trip to STURGIS and your rounding the different bends at the BLACK HILLS only to pear at the 4 presidents carved into the side of the mountain,or coming up on DEVILS TOWER and from miles away it dont look like much until you are up on the monstrosity that it is,or the difference in the blue skies and multi colored lit nite lightning attacks that nature throws on you..it is though my mind is trancended into a different place free from the daily grind of hustling politicians, war, famine, homelessness, desparity and all the other dark things in life.............its like being a drug addict or a drunk..after a taste of that first bell ringer or that good ole drunk at the beginning of your disease, for the rest of your life you chase that feeling over and over again never realizing you allready had the best it is goin to get ...the rest is all down hill from there on out chasin the high or drunk.....but with riding for me that feeling is totally obtainable on a daily basis every spring and summer..some rides are better than others but every once in awhile, wheel to wheel, exhausts a blaring ,wind in my face, arms outstretched,i will look across the road at my buddy riding next to me and know we have both reached the plateau of the feeling of the truest form of freedom i have found to date that it brings chills up and down my spine..........................

JIMI, WHEN YOU GONNA DO THIS TRIP? CAUSE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, I'LL RIDE WITH YA. I HAVE LONG WANTED TO RIDE OUT WEST FROM HERE IN B'MORGUE TO SAY ARIZONA. ALONG RT 66 AND THE HIGHWAYS OUT THERE. EAT AT LITTLE DINNERS ALONG THE WAY AND SLEEP IN MOTELS AT NIGHT. MAYBE EVEN SLEEP OUTSIDE IF THE WEATHERS JUST RIGHT. IT'S ALWAYS SAFER AND BETTER TO HAVE 2 OR MORE RIDING TOGETHER. LET ME KNOW.

jimi, i hear you---i've been thinking about it a lot lately. what really spooks me is the thought of sitting in that rocking chair on the front porch of the nursing home on a spring day with oatmeal running down my chin and knowing i didn't get around to doing the dream trip. let's start by riding on the 12th of april with that growing pack of dogs, chuck

I, too, have visions of a great ride. But mine is derived from a darker nature, not to escape but be driven by the darker things in life. Almost a tortured soul ride. A ride that will free me from the daly grind and drive me to a deeper place than I've ever been. To not be afraid of the darkness , but to grow from it. No plan, no timetable, no direction. A time to release my own demons. A journey thru the darkness that will lead to enlightenment, and to emerge re-born and new. The journey would almost have to start with a catastrophic loss so great that you almost forget how to breath.

Even if they did, you couldn't be sure you'd have parts....

That's my issue right now. My bike has waited on parts for MONTHS.
