A "Newbee Question"!

It almost makes me feel like a new-bee asking this question. I noticed this year as it started getting warmer, riding weather my rear tire was in need of being replaced. Made my mind up I was not going to ride it until I replaced the rear tire. The last rear tire someone else replaced it but I wanted to do it myself so I could really polish the wheel up in places I can not get these bear paw hand up in too. I took everything off and polished the crap out of the wheel. It is ready to be put back on now. My work has been very good this year and the wreck that totaled my truck a while has prolonged getting it put back together.
My question is : How much and what kind of grease do I need to put on the axle itself as I am putting it back into the wheel ? It looked like a very light film of grease on it when I took it all apart but I want to make sure I get all that put back together like it ought to be.

But then Tapiok I would have ask another stupid question , like where are the Bearing ! This is the first time I have ever took the rear wheel off the ole scooter !

Ray , Hope everyone had a great Father Day ,,, My daughter gave me a 1/2 gallon of Jim Beam . I use the bottle for water bottles that I drink out of everyday ,,, another stupid issue ,, someone has to drink this 1/2 gallon of whiskey . :)

The bearings are in each ends of the hubs bolted to the wheel, they might be tight until you loosen one side hub.

Yes please change the bearings. I've had to change them along side the road before, (NOT FUN). I change a lot of tires in my shop, and always replace the bearings. Some still feel good, but most are ruff or falling apart. When you take the hubs off, note that there is a small dimple next to one of the bolt holes that needs to be lined back up with the dimple on the rim. I also like to put the axle in it when putting the hubs back together, to keep the center tube lined up with the bearings.

Wow, you all are too good to me ... I will go get the bearings this am before putting this all back together.. I really do appreciate all your help. It will be shaking windows before the day is over!

Long day yesterday and Monday ,, might be Saturday before it gets put back on ,, but it will be put back on with confidence it is right ,, thanks to you'll help ,, again , thank you ,
