A little help update!!

OK from my last post with the bike shutting down and just restart and everything is fine. The consensus was to make sure all connections are good.
Battery , tighten all terminals, Dielectric grease. EHC connections good. So i repeated the run today . By myself of course. Ran 42 miles. Stopped had coffee. Started back up and hit the highway. Almost at exactly same mileage the bike stopped running. Still had all power to controls. On advice from the forum hit run and start as I was rolling, started back up and ran 60 more miles ,NO PROBLEM. The only other consensus was to replace the key switch.
I played with the key as I was riding and she just ran great. So if the consensus is still the same and I should replace the key switch , Would anyone know a part number for a switch and where I should get it so I have it by Friday? Thank you to everyone that responded. 2400BC even offered to come to my house to help me diagnose the problem. Could not ask for more.

Ignition Part Number

Dave,

I'm not sure if all models use the key or not but the part number for a 08 K-9 ignition assy. switch is ( 171-000063-00 ). Purchased from Full House Cycle, Winchester Virgina.

Give them a call 1-540-667-0088, not sure that they list their parts on line. Thay normally have a fare amount on hand and or can order it. They will mail parts out to you as well!

I'm not sure it's your key switch based on this information. But check with Jade and maybe you can put in a WirePlus Key switch.

Before replacing your key switch take apart the housing where your on/off start button is, inspect the housing for metal debris and be certain there is nothing in there. I had the same problems and it was an aluminum shaving that was shorting the circuit card to ground. :2thumbs:

hey brooks,definatley going to look in that housing for sure. Just want parts if i need them .If it sits on a shelf then it will be more crap i have and may not need . Trying to get as many parts in my own inventory. LOL

Yeah I ended up keepin my un-needed ignition module for the same reason, a functional spare. Hope you get it figured out, I swear though it sounds just like what my bike was doing. Again good luck getting 'er going.

You wrote, you "tighten all terminals". Did you ACTUALLY check to make sure the CRIMPS on those terminals were crimped TIGHT...pull on the terminal ends and check em.

My bike acted the same way and that's all it was...loose terminal crimps to the wire, which shut down the EHC.
