6th gear speeds

Energy One
Howdy friends! What is the slowest speed that can be run in 6th gear? 65 to 70mph is really smooth in 6th on my K-9 but I wonder if 65 might be to slow for 6th. May be something in the owners manual on this but could not find it. Thanks for any and all opinions. SL

It really depends on the load on the engine. I go as low as 60 on a down grade or easy pull. (2000rpm minimum) Keep in mind as you increase the load on the engine, engine vacuum drops. 65-70 is safe in most conditions.

I don't hit 6th until about 65 mph or around 3000 rpm in 5th. Less if its a long down grade. Regardless of speed or rpm don't lug the motor:hi:

I also would recommend 65 mph and above. Below that it is getting to close to min of 2000 RPM. Myself normally will not think about switching to 6th until pass 70 for I like to keep it close the the 2500-3000 mark and more toward the 3000.

For those of us without tac's ..... 65mph is a nice comfortable/smooth 6th gear, but marginal rpm....I have no idea.....can anyone tell me if I'm running in the 2-2500 range.

65 definitely too low for me for 6th - 75 minimum. Each bike is different I guess.

Mine hits 2500rpm at 67 mph I personally ride mine from 60 above in sixth gear just depends on terrain. On level ground riding solo 60 and above in sixth. Its not lugging at that speed at all. Mine dont drop to below 2000rpm till about 55mph.
