this weekend i climbed on the ridgeback and hit the two lane. left out and went over into illinios and road down river road (79 i think)a ways and they had part of it closed off. so i jumped off and circled around to bolin green then to louisiana missouri and cut over into illinios. just a few short miles down the road came up on a stop sign and took a left. about 10 miles down the road in the middle of no where sit a bar so i pulled in for a beer. let me tell ya, if you find this bar on a saterday you wont find a beter place to be. you buy the beer and they feed ya for free. one weekend it may be cat fish, the next prime rib. always good food and live music on saterday's. did i mention there was about 20 hd's out there and i was the only dog,:D
from there i headed out back to hanibal and then headed for kc missouri and made a little loop and back to the house. 650 trouble free miles except that damn belt sqeek. im goin out today to figure out just what in the hell the problem is because i cant handle that damn sqeek sqeek sqeek.

What was the name of the bar? That's close to my old stomping ground. I'm going to try and do some riding back there in July with my dad

i sure will give that a try thank you. how long dose it last? all the sillycone spray i been trying only last about 15 miles:bang: belt dressing worked good but makes a hell of a mess on the back wheel:angry:
i read one thread where someone said they adjusted tell it had about a 1/16 gap on each side of the belt so i went out and jacked the bike up and tryed everything i could to get a gap on both sides but was a no go. if i rolled the wheel backwards the belt would go to one side, and if i rolled it forward it would move to the other side, this makes me think maybe my front pully is tweeked a bit? wonder if i could adjust the transmission to fix that.

my bike does the same thing, roll wheel forward its on one side, roll back its on the other,i was told by the stealer and lots of other builders this is normal,i dont worry about backwards since i only ride forward, the spray has been lasting about 200miles,it wont harm the belt either,if i let it go for awhile that belt will squeal like a pig:loony:

i picked up a can today, i would be good with 200 miles, i can throw the can in my fork bag and just use as needed. the other sprays i tryed would only last about 15 miles, so they are a no go for sure. i will try puting two coats on and see how it lasts. the belt dressing laste good but made a hell of a mess. im thinking about having my wheels cromed so they will be easyer to clean, or at least i hope so.:bang:

thanks agian for the help.

How long has it been since you checked the rear wheel alignment?

the only problem i have with it is it seems the handlebars need to come back some more. its fine sitin on it but riding down the road i find myself slouchin and it pinches a spot in my back. most of my bikes have been like the pit bull or mastif. other than that no complaints at all, i love how it rides.

Too bad they can't come up with a decent looking solo saddle which has a detachable back rest (at least there's none out there I've heard of). My lower back is what usually 'gives up the ghost' first for me on the longer trips. Maybe a good "kidney belt" or sport/heavy lifting belt w/back support would be a good investment?
Anyone having experience with this, please chime in...

My experience is when you're sitting on your bike look at the angle of your upper leg. Are they parallel to the grown or lower or arched up? If arched up then extended controls will lower them and relieve a lot of pressure on your back. But a better seat with a bit more back support will work also.
In all my pics you see my camping gear on the back whether I use it or not cause it's my backrest.

Good idea...next time I go for a 200+ mile trip, I'm definitely sticking on the p-pad and strapping my Kuryaken Tombstone Bag stuffed with whatever to the sissy bar for a backrest!
