Hi, My question is this.Im working on my 2nd 2006 big dog mastiff. The first bike had S&S rocker boxes I installed a 600 cam and was very satisfied no additional head work etc.Now my second 2006 has TP heads and I have had a second 600 cam but have not had it installed yet.I know I'm at the right place to ask this question.Tell me about the difference between the 2 different heads. What if any problems to look for, thanks in advance.

the heads themselves are the same, it's the rocker boxes that are different. the TP boxes create a geometry on the valve stems that producea excessive wear on the valve guides causing oil leaks and valve stem wear that ends sometimes in broken valve stems and even more damage. the 600 cam could cause this wear to happen even faster but not sure.

Just remember that your TP motor is running a pretty good size cam in it now. It should be a crane cam and I dont think its going to make much of a difference when you put in the S&S cam. Maybe someone whos had the cam out of their earlier model scoot will know the size. I want to say a 569 or something like that.

My 2008 model had an S&S 546 cam in it and I installed a 585. That made a little difference in the pep...:D

What Narrow said also you might be careful with the possible wear.
