585 cam

my mechanic tried to install a 585 cam in my stock 06 K9 S&S 117. He said that it was making a loud tinging sound from the heads. He took the heads off and found no problems. He also called S&S with my serial number and they said it should just bolt in. He suggested a spring kit because my heads are just S&S and not S&S super. I was wondering if any one else had similar problems when installing the 585 cam. Thanks

05 and I think part of 06 had shit springs, any cam change would need a spring upgrade.

I don't understand S&S, S&S super.
S&S made only 1 style set of castings for the 111 cu. in., 117 cu. in., and the 124 cu. in. 4 1/8" bore engines. All are "Super Sidewinders". The difference between the heads are the combustion chamber volume, valve springs,(3 different types)and valve size.
The worst case scenario valve springs WILL accommodate the .585" cams.
Have your tech check valve spring installed height, and travel.
