Just a general question Hope everybody's doing well, while riding up to the mountains for the Boone North Carolina rally on Saturday it sounded like something fell off of my bike I, I looked in my rearview mirror and I saw the bolt bouncing on the ground and I ran it over, I turned around went back and there was a 5-in bolt on the ground, I always look at the road in front of me very well to make sure I don't hit or run over anything I did not see this bolt at all while riding. My question is could this have fallen off of my bike and if so what would it go to.

Check the top motor mount bolt. These bikes are notorious for them coming loose and falling out. Also check the the two bolts that go down through the coil into the heads.

I'm guessing you're talking about the four bolts from the picture on the left that only shows two of them of course but other two on the other head and then the two underneath oil filter, all of those are in. Can anybody think of anything else nothing seemed to shake, I know my exhaust is a little loose to heat shields but there's nothing on the exhaust I would have a bolt that large I just really don't remember seeing it in front of me and that's something I would have seen.

I was talking about the coil cover bolt. You can see the left one in the first picture. Make sure that the right side is there. There is an upper motor mount bolt that goes through the top of the coil cover into the frame. Make sure it is there too.

Nope all of those are in also, I checked for everything I thought was the obvious I just wasn't sure if there was something that long underneath the bike cuz I know I ran it over but I did not see it in front of me.

My top engine mount bolt jumped off my bike in the beginning, 17 years ago. It hit the top of my left foot and I had some monster vibration from the engine. I went back to get but was unable to mount it as no one had tools that large. Oh the joys of owning a BDM.

Yeah I checked those the day I was on the way up to the mountains I checked everything that I thought it might be before I kept riding and couldn't find anything missing, thanks though I'm hoping it's nothing and I just really can't believe I hit it because I usually comb the road in front of me like computer combing for a virus
