I was so grateful to finally get the BDM 3" extensions on my bike, I'm a bit tall:) and the cramped position was killing me.

After a few rides I knew that I wanted more so I fabbed up some 5/8 Aluminum bar stock and put the controls out another 2.250".

Its kinda like a Lazyboy recliner now, just have to mount the Flatscreen Tv and refrigerator to finish it off:cheers:

Hopefully the link works, I haven't tried resizing them yet.

You have done what I am planning to do except a 6" for me. My question is: just how big a boy are you? Seriously, how tall are you? I also put the factory 2.5" kit on and it did help but I still want for more. I am 6'2 1/2", thanks!

I want to do that also. I am 6'6" and I feel squished on long rides. Let us know how it works out and you can start a side business.

As a side note, I have a cousin who is a very skilled fabricator. I will be talking to him this weekend about making extension plates for 6" of forward relocation. If this works out, he might be interested in making extras for some of the "Tall Boys" on the forum. I was interested in knowing how tall OLDSKUUL is so I will know if 6" is what I really need to shoot for with the extensions.

BowHunter--I would definetly be interested in something like this if willing. Please let me know what he has to say.

Thanks

I would buy a set of 6". I'm 6' with long legs and any bike feels too small to me. I had the 2.5" on my Harley Duece and it just wasn't enough. Keep us posted.

FYI I'm 6'4" and yes I could of gone to 6" extensions except that the shop who graciously let me rummage through the garbage only had this chunk of aluminum.

I was able to use the stock brake line length, 6" would be too much, I could of used the brake extension line that came with the BDM kit but it wasnt needed.

For those who like to play with metal, I used a jigsaw mounted upside down on an aluminum plate and some chunks of drysuit zipper wax to lube. Its a very slow process and very frustrating is you dont measure thrice and cut.
My harbor Freight beltsander gave me the final finish after many hours of sanding/shaping.

Well I met with my cousin and I have good news and bad news. He said that the company that he has been working for all these years is going out of business and they have already let everyone go except him and one other employee. He is covered up with company work at this time and did not know when he could get to my project but
he is going to make a 6" extension when he can for my buddy(Postman). After this is made, I will see how the 6" works out for me and decide what length I want. As far as making these for others, his future is uncertain. I do have a nephew that is also a fabricator with access to every imaginable metal-working machine. Problem with him is that the company he works for does not look favorably on their CNC and other machines being used for personal gain. It looks like there would be guys on this forum that do this for a living that would be all over this project. I know that I could make a set of extensions for myself but the time required would make it impossible for me to make set for other guys or I would do it myself. I am very much like OLDSKUUL in the fact that I can do projects with the tools I own, but I lack the fancy CNC's, etc. to make quantities of the extension kits. If something comes up where I can hook you guys up with a fabricator willing to take on doing volumes of extension kits I will let you know. Sorry I can't be of more help at this time.

Bummer - I would like a set as well. Anyone on the forum able to fabricate these? Seems like there is a market for this

I am 6'7" I could use a set of those, while the 2.5 ones are great but i still find myself propping my legs on the pegs on long rides
