The Story:
I was looking for a new take since I was going to South Texas a lot and was getting tired of carrying a gas tank with me or worrying about where the next gas station was with the sock tank. TX is BIG and there are many times you'll see a sign, next gas station 90 miles and oh by the way, that is also the next exit. So I surfed the web and found a few tanks. Called them and because I am a don't speak mechanic , they didn't have time for me. I understand.. So I had the mechanic that work on my bigdog '05 chopper give them a call so they talk bolts to bolts, apples to apples and nuts to nuts, in hopes that I would get the a gas tank that fits at the end of the day. That was in Aug. The tank was on back order :bang: for a month, then the mechanic didn't have time until Nov because of some other projects. I wasn't in a hurry, so I dropped by bike off in Nov. since I was going to be out of town for several weeks on business. :2thumbs: .. Come back and I got a little distracted and lost track of time since I was helping a buddy remodel her house. (all in 1 week) in Dec. While under the bathroom sink fixing a messed up pluming job, the mechanic called and said that there is issues with the tank fitting on the bike. Oh and he was going to have to cut my seat in order for tank to fit. That was going to cost me $150+ to have the seat re-done and the paint is now going to be ~$150. :bang: So off to the shop I went the next day and the conversation went nowhere. :argue: After calling a friend I picked the bike and the tank up on Sunday and never looked back. Got the bike and tank home, sure enough the tank was 3.5" to long and now my bike has an oil leak. UGGG.. Found another bike shop (owner us to co-owner of Ironhorse in San Antonio) He had all the parts in stock and fixed the leak in 24hrs. :2thumbs: Talked to him about the gas tank issue and when I picked up the bike the news was not good, but it was honest. He said that the tank was good, but not for this frame and recommended that I send it back. Well, I was not provided the shipping documents from the previous mechanic. :bang: Not to mention that it is WAY past the 90 day return window. So now I have a good tank for someone else to use on their bike.
