Cool video, but they have been around for a while now. The great thing is that they are getting cheaper all the time and it will not too far down the road where they may be in reason for the serious hobbist.
Jay Leno has been using one for a whille though it may be a different make and he has used it in combo with a 3d laser scanner to make one off parts for some of his unique historical vehicles. Not sure what the cost were, but seemed to recall the Laser 3d scaneer he is using was going for around $2500 and the printer was about $15k.
Maybe one of these days, in the not too distant future we can have one to make cool parts and one off.
