I am going to have to replace my rear tire and reading post here I getting different opinions, what would be the better 300 mm tire to buy?

There is a Avon cobra at jp cycles for 222.00 seems to be a good price?

Also what's a fair price for the labor of taking the tire off and changing it and re install?

I wrote them and they said they would have to order it from the vendor and they couldn't give me a date of manufacturer, makes you think.

Just received a Metzler from JP cycles 2 weeks ago, date code 2513, mine only last 3 years anyway. I don't know if Avon got their shit together yet or not

Marc, I got my last three tires from amazon. I got 13K miles out of the rear tire and no splitting. I'll look at the date on the tire and let you know.

3 yrs ? how many miles do you think got out of it?
I had about 5500 on it, but could have gotten another 1000-1500 out of it had I not ran over the thing that put a big a$$ hole in it. I had the pic on here showing how big the hole was with a pencil in it. I only got 8000 miles out of the original Venom tire also. I do not take long trips like 2,3,4,or 500 miles, each time I take it out I'm lucky if I go 75-100 miles. I know if I were to go on longer trips I would see 10k or more like some of the guys get.:whoop:

Franco I have no idea what the date is on the JP cycles cobra , they said they would order it from the vendor and they said they have no idea when they were made but they did tell me its a law they cant keep any tires more than 7 years old in there warehouse, who knows?

i was lucky enough to call J&P destination daytona and got hold of a rookie that didn't know any better. asked him to check in the warehouse on the codes for the 300s in stock and he did. the newest one had the 0914 code on it, so i called back and got an order taker that is also a rider. she wrote all over the order form which tire was to be shipped to me and damned if i didn't get it. but still no guarantee i won't have trouble out of it.

yes, they can keep them for up to 7 years but what about the 5-8 years that the tire is on your bike???

It looks like I will have to just order one and hope for a newer one. I also contacted chaparral Motorsports and asked them the same thing and they said they have no way of knowing, he said they buy them from ten different vendors so they have no idea, understandable I guess? but ya like you said after 4 or 5 years on your bike it could be 12 or 13 years old.

be careful when you order from a smaller company, make sure you can return them if they are older than you are willing to accept without re-stocking fees. i got my front and rear for a few over 400 with free ship from j&p.

Is Marc they were all Avon and the date on is 0113 on the tire that I have now. My last tire had a date of 13 and that got 13K.

That Avon Cobra won't last 5-8 years. You'll be lucky to get 10k out of it. It does have a softer ride than a Dunlop though.
