I put the 300 Met on my Ridgeback and to me it rides better than the Avon. The Met was a hair wider and would just barely touch the drive belt. When the Met comes out of the mold it leaves a sharp ridge around the edge and this is what made contact with the belt. I put the bike on a lift, strapped it down, started it up and let it idle in first with the rear tire free spinning. I then took a mini grinder and lightly touched the edge of the lip and shaved that ridge until it cleared the belt. It wasn't much and only took 5 minutes to do. For me, the Metzler has outlived the Avon. I don't know if I had a blemished Avon but there was a difference in the ride for me. When this one wears out I will go with another Met. If they say this tire is softer then it would be a safer tire in my book. Why would you want to spin anyway, you aren't going anywhere. Plus, I like the hole shot the Metzler gives me. I have hurt alot of feelings on the rice burners from stop light to stop light. I use to run those same tires on my sportbike back in the day. I'm just partial to them. Now for the front, I'm up in the air whether to put on a Avon or a Met. The wear on the front with the Avon has been perfect. I will probably go with the Metzler though.
